I fell asleep to Eno's "Another Green World" last night. I'd honestly forgotten how totally relaxing listening to that album is. It's like being massaged by ten pairs of invisible hands. Is there a record that has a similar effect on you?

I once read a short story about someone who became part of their favourite piece of music when they died. Personally, I think this is a great idea. I'd probably opt for "An Ending/Ascent", again by Brian Eno, because it's soaring, serene, uplifting and joyous. So what music would you choose to become, and why?

'Tha' by Aphex Twin I think. Beautiful, calm, somehow the track feels sunny as if you're sitting in a room, totally at ease and through the window you hear children playing, spring is in the air. That sorta vibe. 'Backside of the Moon' by The Orb would also be nice.

On the subject of Another Green World, for some reason i always find there's a depressing thread in that record, same with On Land, these never strike me as totally happy nostalgic records.

This is true, the title track especially is very melancholy, "In Dark Trees" is almost oppressive in its claustrophobic atmospherics, and there's something rather sinister about "Spirits Drifting", but I still find the overall effect incredibly relaxing.

I used to like Sade's 'Stronger than Pride' to fall asleep to

One of JD Considine's best ever short reviews, for _Stronger than Pride_:

"Faster than Sominex."

Trevor, you have to get Victorialand by COcteau Twins, or for that matter, The Moon and the Melodies by Cocteau Twins and Harold BUdd, or PLateaux of Mirror by Eno and Budd.

I heard about a harp player who made (part of) her living from playing her harp for people as they died in cancer wards in Melbourne.

I had a friend who played his violin as his daughter was being born, what a nice welcome!

I'd like to become a part of the locked groove at the end of the Olivia Tremor Control's Giant Day ep. Just be a part of eternity.

I'd like to be part of "The Witch of the Westmorelands" because it has never ceased to thrill me. It has something do to with fairy tale imagery but i'm not sure that's the whole of it. Stan Rogers sings it; I'm not sure who wrote it.

remember when you were allowed to talk music on ILE?

You're still 'allowed', but music fits very naturally with ilm and so why not bring it up amid its most avid constituency?
