How did you get here?

This was done on ILM but not, I think, here.

How did you stumble across I LOVE EVERYTHING?

Nick, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dutch magazine Oor mentioned Freaky Trigger. Visited that website and then clicked on "Everything".

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

boring answer, sure to be repeated many times, but because of ILM.

gareth, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was one of the disreputable people on ILM (and also of course a good mate of Tom's). So it ILE was made for me....

Pete, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Some people down the pub mentioned that this bloke from an interweb magazine called Freaky Trigger had said some stuff about me. WHAT? I thought! I went to the interweb, looked at FT, looked at ILM.

In interim, went down pub a lot, went away, lost interweb acess. Came back. Found interweb. Found this new "ILE" thing. Played with it. Lost interweb access again. But at this point I seem to be going to the pub with ILE-ers rather frequently. Got interweb back. Here I am. Pub tonight. Sehr gut!

Sarah, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Found ILM because Nick Currie kept sending me links to threads he was posting on. Freaky Trigger was cybersquatted at the time. Then sort of drifted over to ILE because music difficult when stereo broken. Also less temptation to wind up Nick on ILE. Then he started to post here and normal shit-stirring services resumed ;).

suzy, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Got to ILE through ILM, although I wasn't here for the first couple of weeks because for some reason I missed the ILM thread that announced there'd be a separate message board for pub talkers who couldn't stick to the subject of music. Found ILM because a whole bunch of my friends already had.

Madchen, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Never mind that. How do I get out?

Tim, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Through Kate, on her band's e-list.

chris, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Researching article. Google hit Freaky Trigger. Fell in love with site, sent Tom an e-mail. He replied with link to ILE.

Anna, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ricky t went on and on about it to the extent that i hardly understood anything he was saying, or knew anyone he was talking about it. i *had* to get involved! now i am confusing my boyfriend with similar behaviour.

katie, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i was the orgianl gangsta , been here since time began, thru ilm got to ilm thru momus .

anthony, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maura! Well, that's how I found out about the Focus Group, which lead to the Trig, which lead to ILM, then ILE, and, consequently, my complete lack of 9-to-5ish productivity.

David Raposa, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I are the alpha and omega of ILE, or something. I found Freaky Trigger totally by accident though.

DG, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It is all Pete and Tom's fault and when I get sacked for spending too much time here (which seems fairly likely right now) I will be expecting them to keep me in the style to which I have become accustomed.

Emma, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tim identifies link between ILE and Hotel California.

Madchen, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I did a search for "long hair" in Google and a conversation from ILE about whether chicks were better with long or short hair came up.

I couldn't believe my luck, after 7 years of being on f#*k%d cat- lover groups, in finding a normal, rational discussion about something that actually matters!

My joy has not been decreased by the fact that almost no-one seems to notice anything I post, in fact, I kind like feeling invisible - it gives me the illusion that I can get away with anything I want.

Tabs, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And now that you've said that, Tabs, we will hunt you down.

I am well known for protesting this board's very existence in the time of the Great Schism that led to its creation. I eventually acquiesced.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

alt.music.alternative -> no interweb -> interweb back, where's everyone gone? -> Freaky Trigger -> ILM -> ILE

Richard Tunnicliffe, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

As ever, I can only blame Hopkins.

Mark Morris, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've always been here, as I've always been everywhere. I will still be here when you are all dead.

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ally seduced me, and then seet me loose.

Geoff, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I followed my nose

chris, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I did a search to see if anyone else shared my T-Shirt slogan snetiments ("CRAIG DAVID SUCKS"), and Tanya was there for me (Although the Craig David article is rubbish). I did this around January but never got to the rest of FT, and then being bored and imagination-free I did exactly the same thing in March, lurked until I got a new laptop that I could actually post with in June (Duo 230 to PowerBook G4), by which time ILE had already started I was hooked.

Graham, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nightmare Nick found it from creeping round all yr houses at night and EVILLY SPYING ON YOU THROUGH yr WINDOWS or gaping holes in yr house - whatever. Ooooohhhh Nick. *shivers* How long will it be before you STRIKE?

Sarah, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If Nick can gaze thru my windows I shall buy him a pie, as I live on the third floor. Always hilarious when someone rings up to sell me a patio: "Yes. I think it's a brilliant idea. I'll have to check with my downstairs neighbour etc etc."

Ans = found FT by GOOGLING MY BEAUTIFUL SELF, and the others followed as Nessman follows West.

mark s, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Originally from ILM , but today thru the link on Momus' site.

Lesley Higgins, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lesley may I offer you a cupcake?

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mark he is EVIL! He can FLOAT up to yr third floor!! And probably even higher but not TOO high cos he was banished from the heavens a LONG time ago, weren'tcha N. Nick?

This is really fun.

Sarah, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like how the girls all cite me as the reason they came.

I came here to continue the Great Censorship Flame Wars, begun on ILM and continued here. Sinker sunk my resolve never to come to ILE, making me eat the words I posted on ILM: 'I have never visited ILE and never intend to, because for me saying 'I love music' is the same as saying 'I love everything' anyway'.

I notice that nothing here gets censored, so I guess our side won the Flame Wars. Rah, rah, rah!

Momus, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oddly enough by visiting another forum hosted on LUSENET, looking around to see what other forums were hosted there and being drawn in by the title. It's so optimistic.

Samantha, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

...There was even the sublimely Dickensian moment when the feared uber- troll Doom Patrol -- squelched on ILM -- left to finish his book, and everyone on ILE shed sad tears and waved handkerchiefs! If only real wars could end that way.

Momus, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dave Moore

Peter Miller, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dave Lee Travis.

Hi Pete!

Sarah, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Western Homes (remember him?) -> Josh Blog -> FT -> ILM [old skool, was there when it started] -> ILE -> Move, no net access -> bit-pushing job -> browsing at work = now!

Sterling Clover, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was on ILE from day one. ILM I found from Freaky Trigger, which I found from Am I Cool or Not, which some one (Keith, I reckon), posted the address of on Rose Plaza at the Tweekitten website.

jel, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"I like how the girls all cite me as the reason they came."

Must..not..make..sarky...smut...comment. Must...be...STRONG.

Oh, fuck it. You never know, Nick. 'Tis the lady's prerogative to fake it.

suzy, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

google search for timbaland discography -- > nylpm --> ilm --> that thread that dg always links to where i said ile would be crap --> ile

ethan, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I dont know how the fuck I found it. Er I was looking for a job or something and somehow it popped up. Then I got stuck here with you crazies

Ronan, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Tis the lady's prerogative to fake it.

I've heard of girls faking orgasms, but faking your presence on a message board seems like quite an achievement, Suzy. You had me convinced you really come here.

Momus, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Har har har.

suzy, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Besides, pervert doppelganger is *your* job.

suzy, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I came from ILM. Wouldn't want to inflate anyone's ego as to how I arrived there, though.

Maria, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(Blushes.)

Momus, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

To bring Momus's ego down a bit...I actually hadn't heard of him before I got here...

(Actually that's a lie...I had!:)

But, at this rate he'll be calling himself Ladies Love Momus.

jel, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

in which case, you'll have to be just plain old Cool James

gareth, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actually, I was thinking of changing my name by deed poll to Chocolate Salty Seadog.

Momus, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

sinister'ites and ex-sinister'ites.

phil, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chocolate Salty Seadog...very nice, I think it'd work!

Cool James, I can live with that, thanks Gareth! :)

jel, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Its good. Because a bit of salt helps the choco taste more flavourish. And who doesn't like adventures on the sea? Its the stuff of nostalgia. In this sense, my given name is " Orangeflasher luckyblue diamondkiller"

Mike Hanle y, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is your next album going to be sea shanties Momus? I think it'd be a winner if it were!

jel, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Because it was a place to meet nice guys, allegedly...(and the ... are not connected with any rating system)

Laetitia, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

momus' essays -> Tanya -> Freaky Trigger ->I love musick -> I love everything. U all rock.

xoxo

Norman Phay, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The exact same route as Norman.

Arthur, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey, I'm the IL* doorman now! I wave people in here, after, of course, making sure they measure up to the dress code (thrift gear or 'oppit). Damn, that old Nostramomus song came true: I became a... doorman
Stood there on the doormat
Clutching my forgotten disks
In their forgotten format.. If only I'd predicted the internet when I wrote that song, I might have realised that my doorman job would be at a virtual place, not somewhere made of bricks and mortar. On the shanty tip, I did that album already. 'Stars Forever' has at least three of them, landlubbers! Now I'm doing Leider. That's why they call me 'the Leider of the patch'. All right, I'm leaving, no need to push me...

Momus, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

pfft. i didn't get in through no stinkin momus. (i paid charon hanle y a sprig of mistletoe to ferry me across the river styx into the land of the dead, aka il*)

(actually, via simon reynolds website to ft to ilm to ile...which scared me upon first sight, because i thought you were all a bunch of hippies or some such who actually did love *everything*)

jess, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Momus, you do not measure anyone up. You have opened the gates to let the rabble in.

Maria, Saturday, 6 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm making a shanty ep this week...The first song I'm going to record is "cape cod girls"...(I shoulda realived that Chocolate Salty Seadog woulda done some already!!)

jel, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Peter Miller

David Moore, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I came to ILE on it's first day from ILM where I was a wallflower since about January. I found ILM through Freaky Trigger - believe I was hooked by a fictitious Jessica Simpson interview which gave me the impression that things were far more snarky round here than is actually true - damn - but still I stayed. Took a month before I clued in that Momus the poster was the same as the Momus on my MP3s. (oops, have I just admitted to an illegal activity?) As for how I found Freaky Trigger - Have NO IDEA.

Kim, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

its all gareth's fault

Ed, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

google->josh blog->ilm->ile Although I had seen the link on Momus's site first, it was Josh that finally brought me here.

palpable, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Started Freaky Trigger, started ILM after getting involved in a LUSENET chat on Nanette Amplified's forum, thought about splitting the board and creating ILE, went away to the pub and when I came back I found DG had done it for me! Was hooked at once.

Tom, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

so this would make tom = god, dg = jesus, and momus = the crazy eyepatched apostle no one talks about?

jess, Sunday, 7 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

occasional vents of bile on alt.music.alternative -> FT reader -> Occasional Voice of Noise and Buttrock on NYLPM -> ILM -> very occasional ILE appearances

sundar subramanian, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

alt.music.alternative -> no interweb -> interweb back, where's everyone gone? -> Freaky Trigger -> ILM -> ILE

This is me as well except replace "no interweb" with giving up on a.m.a. because it dissolved into spam and death metal cross posts. Now I wonder if Sundar might have been to blame for the latter...
