What was the last song you sang out loud and what were the circumstances of this singing out loud?

For me, it was a little bit of "Day-O" by Harry Belefante because I was explaining to Sarah how my dad used to come into our bedrooms when we were little and wake us up by singing "Day-O" at the top of his lungs. (It's ok, I used to wake up my parents on the weekends by going in their bedroom and playing the Chipmunks theme song as loud as my Fisher-Price tape player would go).

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 10 November 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

penelope (penelope), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Turn Up the Radio" by Autograph, from the Vice City Soundtrack.

TURN UP! THE RADIO!

calstars (calstars), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

"Rebellious Jukebox", cos I heard it at a gig this weekend for the first time in ages and felt like it.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Divine Comedy's "A drinking song" in the shower this morning, because next door were doing some DIY and I felt the need to drown them out somehow. Also, singing at the very top of your lungs just puts you in a brilliant mood, I find.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

zero 7 "distractions"
Because it reminds me of my own personal relationship issue right now.

cybele (cybele), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

The last song I sang out loud was "Land Of Confusion" because I was just listening to it on my headphones at work.

Now I am listening to "The Killing Fields" by Insane Clown Posse and wishing I could sing that out loud.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Just change all the words to something acceptable about fluffy bunnies.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Too late, I'm now on "Weekend" by Black Eyed Peas.

This is totally the best work mix I've ever made.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Er.. I don't think I've sung anything out loud since rehearsal last night. I'm sure I'll rectify that situation within a few hours.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Last night, extremely drunk, at a party, singing along made-up words to Cocteau Twin's Ivo (And shouting CHOON! at poor Dickon every time he put a different record on) cause what else can you do to Cocteaus but sing your own made-up words? "Ivo, He go, he have, pom-pa-DOUR, he see, we be, we DRUUUUUUNK-KEN!!!"

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

That "Moon and New York City" song. HOWEVER, I am not going to tell you about it. Steady Mike to thread!!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 10 November 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

The walk from the pub to this dude named Turtle's house last night I did the whole of TMBG's "Kiss Me, Son of God" in drunken opera-dude voice.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 November 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a dance party for my Second Grade students on Friday. It was the last day before we went on our 2-month break. I played "Hey Ya" and sang the "lend me some sugar, I AM your neighbor!" part.

Arthur (Arthur), Monday, 10 November 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things and the Do Re Mi song. Matt had a gay moment in the music library last week and we have been walzing round the house like twats ever since.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 10 November 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I just read the funny Sinister posts that come up automatically on the front page and now I have "ease yer feet into the sea" stuck RIGHT THERE. Bah bah bah I'm bored. Although "set camera to auto-bollocks" made me larf like a DRANE.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I have Rhinestone cowboy in my head and it's been there for about a week now, and yes I keep singing it, I get funny looks on the tube sometimes

chris (chris), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

'Hot in Herre' just because it's amazing, while washing up.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

"wanted dead or alive" in the revolving cocktail lounge at the westin bonaventure in los angeles. under the influence of black russians.

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I was singing Hank Williams last night, I was drunk as hell and it came into my head. Lovesick Blues, I am not suffering from them though, I am happy really. It seemed a good thing to sing too.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I am about to start singing "Say Say Say".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Crikey - I've realised I've been singing the latest Liberty X song for god knows (Jumpin'?). Everybody say uh-oh (it wasn't credible when the Telletubbies did it that's all I say).

Sarah (starry), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Chaka Khan - Through the Fire...nothing happened.

Chris Hungus (Chris V), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I was singing something really loud last night, but I don't remember what. Either Joel Plaskett Emergency's "Extra Ordinary" or Talib Kweli's "Get By".

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, and I was sprucing up for a night on the town.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

"try me" - james brown & the famous flames. i was just listening to it, and it's hard not to sing along with one of the best songs ever. also, no one is here to judge me if i want to shout off-key at the top of my lungs.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone who wants to judge you should take a number and go to the back of a long line, Lauren.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Last Friday night I sang I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself ON A DATE.

Lara (Lara), Monday, 10 November 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I was just singing along with the new Peaches album in the car. I was alone, but I had the windows down.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

HER STAMP IS IN MY HEART
I STILL FEEL DISEMBOWELED

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Frank Zappa, "Montana," because I was playing his greatest hits album over the weekend and was reminded of how much I like that song, the first Zappa song I ever heard, and I was puttering around this morning, getting ready for work.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Two minutes ago!

(Phone rings)

Jaymc: Hello?
Co-worker: Hey, I was going to ask you a question...
Jaymc: Yeah?
Co-worker: No, I mean, I was going to ask you a question but I realized I already know the answer.
Jaymc: So, why'd you call me?
Co-worker: Because I only realized it in the space between me calling you and ...
Jaymc (doing his best Dave Matthews impression): THE SPACE BETWEEN!
Co-worker: Bye. (hangs up)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Well now I'm singing fucking Particle Man and didn't even realize I was doing it, the circumstances being I NEED A LOT MORE SLEEP THAN I'M GETTING.

Allyzay, Monday, 10 November 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the thread where I sing along to "Da Funk"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Otis Redding 'The Happy Song' this morning on my way in - up loud loud loud, windows down.

People laugh at me way more than I think they should, but I know some of them were digging it.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been singing the first male verse in "Elevator Love Letter" by Stars all the time. It brings me to the verge of tears everytime.

"I'll take her home after midnight
and if she likes, I'll tell her lies
of how we'll fall in love by the morning."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I was singing I Believe In A Thing Called Love in the car on the way back from Asda, it was on the radio and very very loud and very very great. I am considerably better at the falsetto than the 'proper' singing bits which is obviously very emasculating.

Alex in Doncaster (Alex in Doncaster), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I sang "Stand And Deliver" earlier today. Just walking down the street, it popped into my head. I didn't even realize I was singing it until like halfway through.

deathisahedgehog (deathisahedgehog), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

A co-worker just discovered The Darkness and we've been singing "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" to each other on and off all day.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm always singing random lines from songs, sometimes just in my head, sometimes out loud without realising.

I'm pretty sure I was singing "Polaris...Rust in Peace" by Megadeth yesterday, and "oh oh I Lover Her So" at work today.

I must keep a note of what I'm singing, I fear I may be slightly strange. I do whistle this completely atonal tune like every 5 minutes at work.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't not do the "phone is ringin' oh my god" line from "Get It Together" whenever I hear a phone ring, it's starting to piss me off.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"love is kind of crazy with a spooky little boy like you" because it came on at the gim and I find it very hard not to sing along to.

isadora (isadora), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That Darkness song is disgustingly catchy. I don't even think I like it, but whenever I think about it (thanks Dan), it's stuck in my head for the rest of the day. And yes, I sing the falsetto parts.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Hum "Seasons in the Sun," NA, that'll get rid of it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 November 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)
