Hm, I haven't noticed this before, but round 5.15. there's a moment when the UK ILX0rs wned their way home, and for the rest of us it's like the fighter escort leaving us heavy bombers at the Dutch coast -- who knows what flames/Fokke-Wulf 190s we will face...

will anyone come to the dutch german border on the north sea with me?

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, what is it with the English and World War II? Don't they know it's been over FOR SIXTY BLOODY YEARS?!?!? Sigh.

I go home at 5pm. I refuse to post to ILX from home for the sake of my sanity and my relationship and my life.

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Excuse me, but wasn't it you who was watching the Mosquito pathfinder Spivey fest last week?? I was in a bit of a state when I posted this thread, anyway. Anyway, it was the USA[A]F who had the fighter support -- the Brits flew by night.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

(I know, I know, I'm just joking Enrique, I thought that was clear. Sorry!)

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

hurrah! i thought this thread had legs! quite un-pc ones admittedly; but then one of the USAF boys/US posters yesterday asked me what 'Ypres' was on the armistice day thread; like, where's pearl harbor d00d? (god i am todally stealing my chops off mark -- that's a debt, btw).

back in time for eggs and a bally good wallbanger with a wren, what?

enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think i'm going to make this one; one engine down... back in time for tea, or the c4 newz

enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

best ever metaphor on ILX?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, well, if they had been a Stereolab fan they'd have known where Ypres was. ;-)

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

really? i quite like ver lab (details: kust bought MAQ; g/f owns ETK plus that one of early rarities) and i didnae know any ypres connexion...

enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

(No real connection, they just had a song called Les Ypres-sound or something like that, but I believe it was named after the band, not the town.)

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That was Yper-Sound, wasn't it? Always assumed this was just hyper-sound with the silent in French anyway H removed.

OleM (OleM), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Yper is the Flemish for Ypres I do believe.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

because we are navel gazing today.

Ed, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)
