hollywood's most solipsistic villain-pool ever ("being frightened of your analyst: who can't relate to THAT??") or easy device for ahead-of-the-curve Freud debunking? film which best examines this question and more – The Howling!! unless it's about how the ladies can't deal with groovy moustaches. either way: patrick macnee wtf

Hannibal Lecter....end.

Chris Hungus (Chris V), Monday, 10 November 2003 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Dressed To Kill – characterwise the psychologically silliest film ever made. is this on purpose?

Director David Cronenberg is super-creepy in his acting turn in Clive Barker's Nightbreed.

I read a great analysis of 'Babe' (you know, the pig movie) that posited the evil Cat as a kind of psychoanalyst, revealing the painful truths of reality - which is why they're considered villians I suppose.

movie versions of psych wards annoy the shit out of me, since I've worked most of my adult life in the psych biz. Cuckoo's Next is great anyhow.

Hannibal Lecter as played by Brian Cox, anyway. The other overrated ham was about as creepy as cottage cheese.

No, actually, even less creepy.

ChrissieH (chrissie1068), Monday, 10 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

note: never, EVER do a google image search for "cottage cheese".

....just...don't.

hopkins's lecter is more fun as a renaissance man than a psychiatrist – i liked him in Hannibal mainly because he spent more time entertaining and perusing fancy shops than he did analysing stuff

(Spencer was it "Babe and the End Of Analysis" by Anna Shane? i'm afraid Lacan is a bit beyond me so i'll have to take your word that the cat-as-analyst angle is on-point)

House of Games.

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 10 November 2003 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Voigt-Kampf Test scene from 'Blade Runner' scared me. How many ppl here are confident they'd pass it?
