who the fuck wanted to be a "chipite" it sounds so diminuitive. Surely everyone wanted to be a "whiz kid" (sorted)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The "Two Rival Comics in One!!!" concept never really flew. It was better than Buster though.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

rubbish. buster rocked

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

or at least when it amalgamated with Monster Fun it did

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Numbskulls = only good thing about Buster. Didn't it get absorbed into another comic??

Ah. X-post.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I was a die-hard Chip-ite. Whizkids were flashy, empty-headed fools.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, I was supposed to be script editing the transfer of The Numskulls (sic) to the TV screen, but thew project got pulled by my ex-company just before we started. Chiz.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I was primarily a Chipite, but that might be because it was the more indie of the two comics.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Just for the way characters would 'invade' from one mag to the other in a sort of "gone to fight with next door's school" resemblance.

When did it run, anyone know?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

80s mainly I guess. I stopped reading it before it stopped, I think.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Whizzer and Chips was incorporated into Buster, I think.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

But the only character I can remember at all these days is Sweeny Toddler.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Looks like everyone had a piece of Buster including W&C.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all about the Beezer and slightly less about Topper.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Numbskulls later went to the Beano, possibly with a stop-off point at The Dandy?

The only Wizzer and Chips character I can remember is Dynah Mite, or something like that, a dodgy Minnie The Minx rip.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone remember Cliffhanger from the Buster comic ? The artist used to hide the same images in the strip every week. I think there was a warthog, a box with a turning handle, and there was some odd writing too.

Whizzer rocked purely for Sweeney Todd. Not as good as Oink though.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's see now ( some of these may be buster): Milly o'Naire and Penny Less, Mustafah Mi££ion, Billy Wizz, erm

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

TS: Milly O'Naire and Penny Less vs. Ivor Lott and Tony Broke

robster (robster), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread title makes me smile.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the bumpkin billionaires

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

A fine comic all round, especially the bumpkin billionaires. Though I always felt a bit sorry for the richer guy in Store Wars. calculator Kid was pretty good too but Sweet Tooth was a creep.

John Kelion, Thursday, 13 November 2003 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought this thread was going to be food related. i wondered what whizzer was going to be in american speak.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 13 November 2003 06:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ivor Better And Tony Worse" in Viz was quite funny.

I think there was someone in W&C called Disaster Des or something who fucked stuff up without noticing, but this is really scraping the brainpan now.
