So i hear the healthcare system in England sucks. True? Also as an American is working in England a bad idea if you want to make money (because of your socialist tax system)?

Well, maybe it "sucks", but it's about a thousand times better than the American health care system if you don't have health insurance.

Americans working in the UK to make money... our "socialist" tax system is the LEAST of your worries. Spare yourself the agony about complaining about the high cost of living and stay home.

I am sorry to piggyback on this thread, but I would just like to say a word about my brother, who has announced that he is "moving back to England" because apparently the American economy is shot and he can't get a job as a computer programmer because it's "all been shipped out to India now".

You know, he says this after being a Republican for how long, and a serious, politically canvassing Republican, and now HIS POLITICAL PARTY have got said country into such a state, he wants to come over to England and mouth off about the "socialists" in Downing Street while leaching off all the benefits of said system.

And I'm sorry, because I'm sure that the poor deluded American asking this question is not my brother, but still, it pisses me off. Grrrrrrr.

The NHS is the thing that makes me proudest to be British, by God. I also get patriotic during sport obv. but am rarely proud.

No, it's based on weight. It's simple. The more pounds of socialists you own, the more pounds you have to pay out. Haven't you seen the news footage of bearded men in dirty coveralls stationary cycling for hours and hours on end right before tax day?

to answer aziz's question, i dont believe the healthcare in britain is bad. i have never had a problem with it, plus of course i dont have to worry about money, because my taxes pay for it, so i dont have to worry about whether i can afford the insurance or not. although this system might not work for everyone, for me the removal of worry, and the decent care i have received, are a positive.
