Donna Air to hand her baby over to a gorilla. Well slap me royally with a banana!

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Donna Air and her zoo-owner boyfriend Damian Aspinall intend to place their baby daughter in the care of a gorilla.

The couple plan to put Freya, who was born in September, in the gorilla enclosure at Howletts Zoo near Canterbury, Kent.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

gorillas are known for their gentle treatment of babies and children.

Gorilla males are also known for KILLING the babies of rival gorilla males in order to mate with their mothers.

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think Damian is hairy enough for this to be a problem.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

gorillas can reject their own babies let alone a completely alien baby, i just cannot get this. I mean not all 'traditions' are a good thing. Oh hang on, i've just got to go and burn/drown a witch. Well at least i think she is a witch, who really knows.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

well she was a RUBBISH TV presenter so maybe handing babies to gorillas is her only real talent?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

b-but Steve, she was grebt as Charlie in Byker Grove!

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

what?
are you allowed do that?

robin (robin), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Does is amount to child abuse, putting your child deliberately in danger I mean? I say yes.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Why are they handing their baby over for gorillas to care for her? Why can't they just get an au pair like everyone else?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the question is, DOES ADAM ANT APPROVE?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

surely we're missing the big picture here: COMPLETELY ALIEN BABY?

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Completely alien baby=human baby to a gorilla. Mark, go and work on your book!!!!!!! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

*Completely* alien = not carbon based. Body chemstry reliant on something other than DNA. Human baby to gorilla would be slightly alien. It's scalar.

aardvark more alien, alligator more than that, starfish more than that ect ect

not entirely facetious answer - think of completely different species sometimes fostered by unlikely mothers.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

jeez.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Who do you think would make a better mother? Donna Air or a gorilla?

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm *thinks*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

adam ant will save the baby for sure!!

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Why doesn't she just give the baby to adam ant.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Gorilla males are also known for KILLING the babies of rival gorilla males in order to mate with their mothers.

are you sure you're not thinking of baboons? or people from Newcastle?

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Gorillas it was. It was in a book about primates, so it might have slipped my mind that it was actually Chimpanzees, but I'm 95% sure it was Gorillas.

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oi, dv.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Gorillas are less savage than Blurillaz.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Monkeys throw their own shit, thats awesome. What is this about a baby? Maybe i should read the thread...i saw 'gorilla' and just got all excited.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't let Damon Albarn go anywhere near my children. If I had any. In fact, I would rather hand my baby over to a Silverback than Damon, I think.

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

letting Damon Albarn go near yr children vs. letting Liam Gallagher go near yr children vs. letting a gorilla go near yr children.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The gorilla wins!

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

*nods*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Gorilla males are also known for KILLING the babies of rival gorilla males in order to mate with their mothers.

Is Donna Air known to be particularly attractive to gorillas? They're not putting the baby in the company of a male gorilla, are they? Surely that makes a bit of difference (I'm assuming female gorillas are less aggressive)?

Surely a stinking fetid gorilla cage full of piss and shit and whatever is hardly the best environment for an infant, gorillas or no gorillas?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyway, what they SHOULD be doing is handing their baby over to a PACK OF WOLVES! Hey, it worked for Romulus, Remus and Mowgli.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't really like the idea of an empire being founded by Donna Air's child.
