Now I am constantly being inundated with HSA's owl collection. We are trying to train them to perch on the bookshelves, but they want to get in on the orgy with Scooby Doo and Bubbles PPG.

in high school i had a 3-foot tall winnie the pooh. i sleep with it when i visit.
in university i was given 'vibrating pooh', which was a winnie the pooh for babies. when you squeeze his belly, he vibrates. it's so soothing. you hardly notice until it stops and you feel a deep sense of loss...

Nowadays I have, besides the round mouse, another mouse of the puppet variety called "Elisabet", a lion who's name is "John the Small", a pig that says something in Estonian, and a gay gorilla.

As for how long did I keep him, you have to be kidding. He's upstairs now. It's several decades since he shared the bed with me, but he is still in the room, rather worn, almost threadbear (ha ha) in places. I don't notice him more than once every few months, but I am pleased I still have him.

my oldest stuffed animal was a small stuffed winnie the pooh that played a music box-style version of the theme song when you turned a little key in the back. the last time i found him at my mom's house, i was amazed to find that the song still plays. should probably rescue him and bring him home next time, before my mom's new dog has a chance to chew him up.

one time when i was about 15 or 16 my sister posed my beloved childhood koala bear on my bed with sunglasses, a cigarette in it's hand, a safety pin through it's ear and a sign that said "messiahwannabe will play with me again now that i'm cool" and felt really really horribly guilty for like a month afterwards

Was this the happiest ILX thread?
(obviously, there is sadness now..)

My favorite of all time was a toy bush baby. I think I just called him Bush Baby. He had a very long tail and I would usually play with him by swinging him around in circles by it. One day, on the way into church, I was swinging Bush Baby around by his tail when the stitching came undone and the stuffed animal flew off into the air, leaving me holding just the tail. The horror and despair! My mom was able to sew him back together, "but no more spinning" she said. I still slept with him at night for a while, but that was the end of an era for Bush Baby.

When I was about 13 I had two stuffed smiley faces - no body, just a head, but that was all I had so I slept with them. I later cuddled a 2nd pillow in bed, which didn't look like any playful animal but felt good with the lights out. I wanted it to be real....

Best Bun. a grey rabbit that a lady up the road made for me when I was born. 35 years ago and still in one, albeit fraying and balding, piece. My son has him now, would be quite nice if his stitches stay together for the next generation.
