Last night at about 1am, I got a strange email from a swedish girl. She asked if I had got her emails, because she was now in my area and would like to meet. I had no idea what she was talking about, but I replied anyway, saying that I'll hang out with anyone but not to expect any romance. She has a profile ay friendfinder.com, her handle being FUNLADYNOW, which I promptly looked up. She's incredible, and it doesn't seem fake, so now I check my email every half hour to see if she replied. Can this be true? Is it a scam? Should I even care? The idea that this girl really exists has charged my mind. I've been very lethargic lately in the realm of dating, chalking it all up to meaningless reproductive instinct. But because of FUNLADYNOW, I'm actually getting interested in other girls who are not as good looking, just to do something. What does

Does this look familiar? I think it's a ploy by someone to see if they have an email address that is still current. If you reply, they will know it's an active address. There are lots of references to FUNLADYNOW on the web. If I were you I would ignore it, unless you want to get more spam.

So onto the real interesting part -- today I recieved THREE email messages from "John Crackwell" who alerts me "Is your neighbor a criminal?" The spam company that sends this is http://www.responsbase.com

So is it a coincidence that I send three messages to Elga from Western countries and get three messages? Responsebase seems to specialize in geographic targeting of spam.

The other reason I suspect them is the message is sent directly to my email address -- my spam filters are set high, so most of this tripe gets sent to the trash right away, unless it is addressed directly to me.

Has anyone else responded to Elga and recieved mail from John Crackwell?

Like Everyone else here I too had this email. I replied and I also was asked to resend to a different email address. Then I also had back a reply in Swedish. After having tried an online Swedish- English Dictionary I've come up the following translation:

This was a great hoax. I really wanted to do that bitch. Anyway, here's the thing !!!UPDATE!!! so she like replies to me just yeterday with a link to her video. I follow the link, I download the video - it's an .exe and sure enough my modem disconnects, the computer freezes up, I reboot - try it all again just in case and do it a third time just to be sure. Nothin. I told the bitch that she had a viral condition that my computer reacted to and here's her auto-reply (and please don't laugh at me.......)

there's some software you can download which checks your system for [some] trojans and spyware. i'll see if i can find the link. i'd also recommend a personal firewall (e.g. Zonealarm.com - free for personal use) which will show you exactly which programs are trying to access the internet, and allow you to block any suspicious ones.
