Bad Timing

So, last week I got so fed up with the way my work was going that I handed in my notice. I have just found out this week that my office is being downsized and everyone else is being offered voluntary redundancy. If I had hung on, I could have got out of my job and been paid for it.

Relate your tales of bad timing here...

Erm, yeah. I basically handed in my resignation and then promptly was admitted to hospital with severe anaemia and told that I needed much bedrest. If I'd not handed in notice, I could have spent the rest of the year on sick leave or disability or something.

(And gone playing squash, apparently!)

I was thinking of quitting today...maybe I'll hold on a little bit.

I know this pain
Why do lock yourself up in these chains ?
No one can change your life except for you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really fair to feel this way inside ?
Chorus
Some day somebody's gonna make you want to turn around and say
goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them hold you down and make
you cry
Don't you know ?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way
Hold on for one more day
You could sustain

It happened to a colleague at my last job in London too. She was hoping to be made redundant, didn't get it, so she resigned, then there was a second round of redundancies. I think the fact that we were all sending sympathetic looks in her direction all the time probably made her feel even worse.

Not much you can do except grit your teeth and move along.
