What Would Momus Do? Or Kate? Or Dan Perry? Or Ally? Do you ever self-censor/pre-analyze your actions based on what you think an ILX poster would say? Who is your ILX-Super Ego? [DISCLAIMER: not that this is a healthy thing...] Well, go on, do you?

Skottie, Sunday, 16 November 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I be my own ILX-Super-Ego?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 16 November 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought the title of the thread stood for "What weapons of mass destruction?"

Prude (Prude), Sunday, 16 November 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Or perhaps, "Wonderful World of Mass Destruction" -- the boxed set

Skottie, Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess Dan would have to be your ILX-id, of course

Skottie, Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i was hoping it was: what would morrissey do?

scott seward, Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

get beat up by fans onstage?

Jay Dee Sah Mon (Kingfish), Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

stir up desire in young latino lads and latina lasses?

scott seward, Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

not be racist?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I be my own ILX-Super-Ego?

No, clearly not. There are, however, positions open for you to be your own private Idaho, or your own personal Jesus. Call now, operators are standing by.

Skottie, Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I have been known to be my own personal Jesus on the board.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 16 November 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

[Voice in your head...]put down the Boyz 2 Men album. Step back from the rack.

I don't remember wearing that sweater.

I don't understand the question, so I guess that's a no.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 16 November 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i was hoping it was: what would morrissey do?

Remove the 'what' and replace it with 'who' and we're back on ILX track.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 November 2003 07:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I have occasionally thought "I'd slap that down if someone else said it" or "that joke is of a Custos standard" and stopped myself.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 16 November 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Absolutely. "Looks like something **** ****** might have said" --> delete. On the whole, I don't think of an ideal super-ILXo to judge my statements.

nestmanso (nestmanso), Sunday, 16 November 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm, nope, can't say I've ever censored myself in this way. Only, in the way of thinking "I've already posted 25 silly one line answers today, better give it a break".

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 16 November 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

here is a "just the sort of thing Momus would say!" post (it is also true):

I won't be around here on Tuesday - I will be at the Japanese Embassy that evening.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 16 November 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i do not know what moses would do.

athos magnani (Cozen), Sunday, 16 November 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I guessed this was "What Would Mase Do?"

Carey (Carey), Sunday, 16 November 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

he would go back to bed, if he could.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 16 November 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you ever self-censor/pre-analyze your actions based on what you think an ILX poster would say?

nah, i just let them all pile on....what the point of censoring oneself? it's just one person's thoughts, why be invested in someone who can't handle diversity of opinion?

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 16 November 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

!!!!!!!!!!

This is the most bizarre thread ever. What *DO* the voices in your head that claim to be me tell you to do, Skottie?

Buy dronerock records? Post pictures of ass? Talk about obscure aspects of British history?

I'm really curious now...

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

All of the above, of course!

I meant, I think, the question more along the lines of what Martin has posted above. Some one will say something and I'll think, "that sounds like something that ____(insert name of ILXor) would have said". Or similarly, "If I had posted that on ILX, ____ would have jumped right on it."

I didn't (necessarily) mean to suggest that the voices of ILXors were speaking to me directly, odering my actions. Although, of course, they are.

Skottie, Monday, 17 November 2003 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Go. To. Dee. WINDOW!!!

Go. To. Dee. WEEEN-DOW!!!

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Must. . .get. . .secret. . .plans. Must. . .get. . .secret. . . plans...
