so far it's that i just got a ticket for Radiohead at Earl's Court on the 27th - such glee at the prospect of such misery, muahahahaha

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 November 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that it wasn't an air raid this morning, and we didn't all get blown up.

Oh, and the Owl and the Pussycat is pleasing me immensely.

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

this morning i wasn't as hungover as i thought i'd be

ken c, Monday, 17 November 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

the flatscreen monitor for my new pc has just been delivered.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I got a ticket for Chelsea v Sparta Prague next week.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Coffee. I feel I might make it through the day after all, despite having had about 5 hours sleep in the last 2 days and not for any fun reason.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that on Mondays I have motivation and a positive, optimistic outlook on the rest of the week. And that sometime ILXstress Madeleine McNeil is coming to town, yay!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that my job ends in two weeks. I am actually very pleased about this, as it's coming right about the right time, when I am starting to get tired of and bored with my job.

However, the knowledge that HSA is starting to fuss about my upcoming unemployment NOW is really kind of detracting from that sense of pleasement. :-(

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

now's your chance to make Brown Ketchup a commercial reality, do it!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

that it's five weeks to xmas, ie quite deep in winter, and i haven't got seriously down yet.

enrique (Enrique), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

*shakes head* nothing yet.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i went in to the l'occitane shop and the very serious french girl in there knew to spray my wrist with a gorgeous perfume that is still smelling amazing right now

minna (minna), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"A pretty girl moved in downstairs and started dated college guys. It was inevitable she would move on to bus drivers."

Richard Brautigan always make me laugh.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

"A pretty girl moved in downstairs and started dated college guys. It was inevitable she would move on to bus drivers."

That's really creepy if you've been following UK local news lately...

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I think context is everything here. Never thought of the news angle (and I know what you're referring to). Feel kind of guilty for laughing now. Shame on me.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

woke up next to my wonderful girlfriend; had fun at my guest spot on the radio; came home to find girlfriend had made bed before going to work meaning by bedroom/office looked tidy; write two reviews that had been troubling me in my head, but of which i'm quite proud now they're done... and its not even lunchtime yet!

stevie (stevie), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck that Mikey. The beauty of a writer like Brautigan - he can bend your brain to the point that you forget about the shitty brown reality where guilt is a badge of distinction. No shame in that.

Alex K (Alex K), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't saying you were creepy for laughing! Please don't think that! I just thought it was something innocent and funny that was made creepy by recent circumstances.

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

What circumstances?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

There's been a news story about a college girl in ... erm? ... Cornwall, I think? ... who went missing while waiting for a bus and was found murdered. The bus driver was then arrested for her murder.

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is becoming most unpleasing now. :-(

Yesterday I was highly pleased by being able to run through huge piles of leaves in Greenwich Park without being given the fisheye by Camden County workers there to sweep up the leaves.

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right of course, I didn't make the bus driver connection. Apols.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i like to eat susages and mash potato

the evil docter claw, Monday, 17 November 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Two years of walking into lamposts *could* be coming to an end. About fucking time too.

Alex K (Alex K), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Just think if Richard Brautigan did control the news.

Last night I fell asleep five minutes from the end of Six Feet under. I fell into an instant dream and woke up by bashing my head on the wall. My girlfriend then refused to tell me what had happened (this was the last episode too). I was annoyed last night, but this morning, I think it's just funny. The wine was to blame, natch.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 17 November 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing. i feel miserable today. not even a XL Leo choco bar could make me happy. my stomach decided it was alien property and ejected it after half an hour.

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry to hear that, Nath.

I took a chance on a "chocolate gingerbread star" at Starfucks today, and my god, it was the most delicious thing I've eaten since, well, yesterday. Well, it was the most delicious choccie thing I've bought in a store in a long long time!

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Nath feeling miserable does not please me :-(

Still, only two more weeks of single life to go and then it's bye bye Streatham, hello Hampstead for me! :-)

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 17 November 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

inst noodles, driving round, some music, 1 beer, pot, sleeping in the mid-to-late p.m., some of the people i talked to but not all of em

duane, Monday, 17 November 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

y'know it could be two things:
1. *friends* assuring me, after discovering my parents now live in tokyo, "THERE WILL BE A BIG EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN ANY DAY NOW!!!!! AND PROPABLY IN TOKYO!!!!!!!!!!" Christ!
2. Started to read Adorno again. hah!

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

What lovely and considerate *friends* these must be. In the circumstances I don't know whether Adorno is ideal reading - you need some ubertrash to cheer you up I think. Valley Of The Dolls?

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 17 November 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Every time you mention Hampstead, Marcello, I keep thinking you're going to go be the new Brett Anderson. And that's wrong of me.

I am pleased my stubbed toe on Saturday isn't aching much (bruised pretty badly, though). Tomorrow I will have another reason for pleasure which JUST MIGHT have to do with a 4 DVD set of a movie being released.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Being able to walk relatively pain-free -- this weekend I could barely move.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that even though I'm incredibly stressed and on the verge of crying because I have so much to do and only 4 hours 47 minutes until irrevocable deadline, it will soon be tomorrow and then I leave for London (semi-)vacation!

(That, and the fact that I have a cigarette in my hand that I will take 5 minutes off to smoke right now.)

(Oops now it's 4 hours 46 minutes.)

Hanna (Hanna), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

not alot pleases me, very busy and stressed. I am fucking terrified of things which have to be done, and so lazy to boot.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a grebt birthday weekend and i'm going to be in london in a week! just for two days (en route to visit my brother at oxford), but still! roXoR! can't wait to see the london folks again!

geeta (geeta), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

not a damn thing.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i did a nice edit (=slash-and-burn!!) job on a v.boring piece but all it proved was that even when written in decent english ahem it wz unbelievably unrunnable :(

also there wz a juicy bit of gossip, but afterwards it made me worry abt ethics etc (not mine) (they're ok) (in this instance)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

The RAIN. It's great.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

San Francisco- After a few days of rain, everything is wonderful and fantastic again. I fucking love, love, love this city.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the 300 Christmas lights i am going to string up in my living room when i get home.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

That although I had to wake up earlier than I have in the last three weeks (since I've been off from work), I only felt horrible for about ten minutes after waking up and then felt more energetic than I usually feel when I get up for work.

Rockist Scientist, Monday, 17 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

one of my many bosses (basically everyone but the interns are my boss, and even they think they can push me around--note to self: boo hoo) just asked if he could borrow my pen. Little did he know, but I just had the pen wedged right up in my mouth, sorta like I was chewing on it, but I wasn't chewing, just sort of salivating.
HaHA!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

You fool! Now that he can write with a mixture of ink and your saliva, he can sign your soul away!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

shit. and I don't even get health benefits.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, and be careful not to put the pen back in your mouth!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 17 November 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

36 days, 15 hours, 27 minutes, 42 seconds left. Actually that irritates me as much as it pleases me.

ethereal cereal (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 17 November 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

big hazel eyes.

Allyzay, Monday, 17 November 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Many things could happen today which would make me very pleased indeed. But. Perhaps they won't.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Positive Mental Attitude, Chris!

(I'm quite the cheerleader today!)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The transparency.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you, and becoming governor of California

Ahnuld (mookieproof), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Enjoy the ceremony, dude!

Fifteen minues of fame and all that...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Lights

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Slick's cooked my tater tots just right today. And on the way back up from lunch I had the elevator to myself, so I got to do karate kicks and hump the wall and stuff.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Slick's cooked my tater tots just right

haha you know what THAT'S code for!

ethereal cereal (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 17 November 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

dyson (dyson), Monday, 17 November 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It is, though.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 November 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

One two weeks and two days left to go before I never have to go back to my personal hell job.

*hunts for corresponding thread where I can grump about impending boredom, poverty and watching of Des and Mel*

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 17 November 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Northampton Town 1 - Swansea City 0 (HT)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 17 November 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoo I have an Edmonton gig! All praise Anthony!

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 17 November 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

HA! I think I've been pleasing myself the most today. I've made myself pay $1000 in past due bills, call about the job I interviewed for a while back (which I didn't get an answer on, but anyway), had a doctor's appointment I was semi-dreading, and got myself caught up on NaNoWriMo. ALSO, at said doctor's appointment, I learned I've lost over 20 pounds in two years.
