That's the author of the 419 letter I received today (purportedly from a Hong Kong bank holding funds for a late Iraqi general). But that name...could the author be intending to yank the crank of his readers?
In the meantime, in this Craigslist best-of, someone really gets his revenge on one of the lads from Lagos.

By TIM MOLLOY, Associated Press Writer
LOS ANGELES - The nearly weeklong search for a Grammy-nominated producer ended Friday after a resident spotted the man sitting naked in a backyard creek, washing his jeans.
The Topanga Canyon resident found a distraught Christian Julian Irwin saying he feared he was being pursued by Nigerians who had contacted him in an Internet scam, sheriff's Capt. Ray Peavy said.
Peavy said there was no evidence anyone was actually pursuing the 48-year-old producer, who has worked with Carly Simon and David Bowie, among others.
Irwin was taken into custody because he was deemed mentally incompetent and possibly dangerous to himself, Peavy said. He was found at about 4:30 p.m. and agreed to go with police about two hours later after negotiations in which authorities, at Irwin's request, located his sister to help calm him.
Irwin was questioned by medical and mental health workers and taken to a hospital to make sure he was in good physical health. He was to be transferred to another hospital for observation.
Authorities began looking for Irwin on Sunday after he made a panicked phone call to a friend, saying he was being pursued by people with dogs. He told his friend he was running through water and had lost his glasses and shoes in a creek.
Topanga Canyon, a rustic area long a favorite with artists and musicians, is about 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles in the Santa Monica Mountains.

my mom receive a pretty genuine-looking letter in the mail from a lawyer claiming to be in Canada. the letter claims that my mom can help assist the lawyer in recovering the $10M estate of one of the lawyer's former clients. it's printed on nice looking paper and if you squint, looks like a letter from a lawyer.
i reported it to the canada anti-fraud centre.
the letter has a phone number and an email. my question is - do i send this guy an email telling him to cut it out? the police procedural movie watcher in me doesn't want to 'spook' the guy so that this canada anti fraud centre can do its thing. i'd love to be there when the mounties show up.
otoh i don't want this guy to actually scam anybody else he's contacted and who knows when the cafc will even get to this case file. so if i tell him to quit it now maybe i can save a few folks from getting pig butchered?

okay did a bit more research and it's not uncommon to get these kinds of scam letters in the mail. i'm overthinking this. emailed the guy to tell him to fuck off. what lowlifes!

My understanding is that responding to scammers at all, even to tell them to fuck off, possibly encourages them to contact you with more scams as it marks you as a person who will respond, which is better to them than someone who will not.

oh yeah i used a burner email account to do so. i'd never use a phone number or anything traceable back to me. fwiw the letter was received in the post, not an email.

just felt like a massive invasion of privacy or something ya know?

The Economist's Scam, Inc podcast about the pig butchering is great. There's the obvious stuff about preying on loneliness and people wanting to be rich, but the background on the industrialization of scam factories (human trafficking; gov't sanctioned), the new avenues for money laundering (betting all sides of a soccer game only loses you ~7%; partnering up with Mexican cartels) and interviews with those trying to trace where the money goes were all fascinating. I think only the first couple episodes are free but the NYTimes also has a series which seemed to, erm, piggyback on their reporting.
