Lunch

What did you have for lunch??? This is what I had:

I seem to have the same attention span for food as I do for music. Last year I was knee-deep in Japanese cuisine, this year I am trying to learn all about Italian pasta. But there's still a few Japanese recipes I adhere to, like the quick 'n' easy stirfry veggies 'n' chicken noodle concoction. You basically take a bag of stirfry noodles and a cut-up chicken filet, throw it in the wok. You stirfry it for... oh... ten minutes and then you spash a gallon of thick soba sauce. (My friend prefers Bull Dog Sauce.) To top it of, you throw in two bags of Blue Dragon udon noodles. You mix this for a few minutes until the noodles are warm. I usually pour some more soba sauce on it.

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a M&S spinach and pasta salad. (Which turns out to have more calories than the nummy sandwiches anyway!) And a gingerbread latte, yum!

I have this or some variation thereof almost every day these days.

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Im getting ready for my fab cheese sandwich. Im broke this week.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be having leftover pork and spatzel that my gf made for dinner last night. And a Mountain Dew, probably.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a cheese ploughmans s/w with some bacon fries (crips). Very boring today, I usually have a jacket pot or something, but not today.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

It's only 7:40am here, but I can guarantee I will be having a toffuti bagel and an Odwalla Superfood - see how "California" I am now?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

2 slices of white toast with peanut butter. Very unhealthy.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't wait till this job is over so I can go back to cooking proper lunch instead of M&S.

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

a chicken and vegetable cup a soup, and a tupperware container full of apple and plum crumble that I microwave and munched on for a while. It was ace as it had a couple of days for the fruit to really get gooey

chris (chris), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the most middle class baguette thing evah
plus more coffee

enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

M&S = Marks and Spencer?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a hot chocolate from Coffee Republic! NUM NUM.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i eat the same thing every day. bagel and cream cheese, walkers ready salted crisps and a chocolate bar. the thing that changes is what kind of chocolate. today, snickers.

i'm trying to eat fruit as well, so i got some grapes today.

i keep waiting for me to be sick of this, but it hasn't happened yet.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

M&S = Marks & Sparks, yes. I am not doing pervy sex acts backwards for lunch, no. (Though this may resume when HSA and I are together for lunchtimes again!)

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to try something new today, it's a rice bowl thing with fake chicken and Szechuan sauce. It will probably be gross. But I like fake chicken.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i had a sammich with chicken and bacon and pepper in mayo with salad and the inevitable bag of plain crisps and can of diet coke.

i go to the same sammich shop every day, but i'm easily pleased...

also kate, TMI thank you.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a soppy tuna sandwich :(

Mandee (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I could quite happily eat the same thing for lunch everyday * I pretty much do.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I ATE A BABY!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay that's a lie. My lunch today will probably consist of veggie soup and a big chunk of roasted garlic bread. But it's still a bit away, and whimsy might carry me to the Chinese buffet up the street, as is often the case.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Especially if it's BABY DAY!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Tuna and cucumber baguette, satsuma, Snickers. Ew Snickers. The coffee bar here realllllly needs to get some better chocolate.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing is better than Snickers, Archel, you are clearly crazy.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Snickers do rock!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No! Lu XL chocolate bars!!!!

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I do like a Snickers on the quiet or I wouldn't have had one I suppose. But I always think they are not 'proper' chocolate. They are mainly nutty sticky bits for a start. And Mars style chocolate doesn't taste anything like chocolate.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

either steak burger from A&W or a honey chicken club from Quizinos. What I really would have liked is chicken fried rice from home but I was out of eggs or butter chicken from a nearby indian joint but I lack the time.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight I think I shall roast some potatoes and eat them with cold chicken and BISTO! Best get home NOW, hurrah what a good idea. Cheers ILE!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Change the Bisto for Pesto & yay!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I had coq au vin with boiled potatoes.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Lean Cuisine Spaghetti with meat sauce and diet dr pepper

I forgot to bring one of the granny smith apples I just bought. :(

dinner will probably be pizza hut or sonic or just popcorn and beer at home (maybe that apple).

I've given up all pretense of trying to make food for myself for the immediate future. i'm just too depressed and stressed.

(btw, i am intrigued by the gingerbread latte. i don't think we have that here.)

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

what should i have?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my god, no way Archel, Snickers really DOES SATISFY. I never really crave chocolate bars except once in a while I get a vision of those delicious gooey peanuts covered in milk chocolate and I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I CAN HAVE ONE.

mandee (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

salmon salad sandwich with a side of steak, for alliteration

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

ME. WANT. LUNCHEE.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Do they even advertise Snickers on British TV these days? I cannot recall what the pitch is AT ALL if so. Mars adverts have gone distinctly odd though. 'Pleasure you can't measure' - aha! do you see how cunningly they avoid any quantitative claim? No more falling into that 'yep, definitely helps you work rest and play' trap for them!

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone remember the old Zoodles commercial (which Noodles, if you ever want to subtly change yr name...) where at the end some little kid of unremembered gender screams out "I JUST ATE A HIPPOPOTAMUS FOR LUNCH!!!"?
that was cool

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

a passable tuna sandwich on a pumpernickel bagel. now i'm craving diet coke.

ethereal cereal (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Leftovers from Sunday's brunch: noodle kugel, broccoli cheddar cheese quiche and a cheese scone. MMMMMM dairy products.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I ate a sandwhich from Roly Poly.

As soon as I walked in, the guy at the counter said, "#1? No cucumbers?" (I go in there about once a week)

Later, he asked, "So, how come you never get anything else? Don't you at least want to try our other sandwhiches?" I said, "No, I find a good thing, I stick with it." He told me that's no way to go about life, but he also gave me a free cookie.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Sarah has an admirer.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

He's really saying you should ditch NA and take up with him, the perv.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

frozen pizza

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

And she STONE COLD REJECTED HIM. AWWW YEAH!

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I had chicken curry rice for lunch.CHEAPOH food: cooked chicken dipped in mushroom cream soup (with two spoons of curry powder) over japanese rice.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Just had a creamy mushroom pasta thing, was quite yummy. Now back to feeling icky!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I have got RIGHT NOW a bacon and lentil SOOP, piece of bred, an apple and a mars bar. I sense THE POX coming on, ugh ugh.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, all the Starbucks in San Antonio I've visited (i.e. five of them) have the gingerbread lattes in. I'm certain that any of the Starbucks in Dallas will have them as well.

Yesterday I had lunch with an old friend of mine from high school and she and I might actually end up founding up the S.A. branch of the Ned Raggett Fan Club because I played her some of the Reads the Almanac CD and she was intrigued, to say the least. I'll have to privately relay to him what she said, exactly. But I digress. I had a burger and onion rings, and drank water.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Today, I will be very happy indeed to eat... um... hm. Fruit, perhaps. No wait, it's actually cold today -- um, soup? I don't know. I'll get back to you on that.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheese on Wheat, and Toast Chee crackers.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I had gingerbread latte again today. Mmmmm.

Though I switched to the "Greek salad" which though it claimed to be vegetarian, has left me with the awful aftertaste of FISH in my mouth. I'm already feeling slightly queasy, dear god, if it makes me puke I'm suing M&S.

Citizen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

tuna sandwich with walkers salt and vinegar crisps and tea.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Leek and potato soup, a wholemeal roll and a carton of Ribena Light.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

meeting food - some rice salad with sausage in tortilla wraps, breadsticks, cream cheese mini-sandwiches and a slice of carrot cake

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yum. Buffet meeting food roxor!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

No meatballs?

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

no meatballs at all, which was kinda surprising, I forgot some surprisingly soggy tortilla chips though.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

today:
pitta bread, warmed up and sliced open. sorta-filled with tomato puree, mozarella and salami, then topped with same. warmed on grill pan for a bit, till the internal cheese melts, then broiled until the top cheese melts. MMMM GUILTY PLEASURE.x

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Ive never been to an office function with no meatballs. I wouldnt know how to react...

I would probably keep leaving then coming back, hoping they'd magically appear.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I have left my "free bread and piece of fruit" in my drawer. They seem somewhat a let down compared to a sickly energy giving MARS BAR. I'm not sure whether I feel disappointed in myself, or in the bread and apple community for not making me want to eat their product enough. Either way I could have planned better.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think we've ever had meatvballs as meeting food. Mind you they're not entirley conducive to the mountains of paper that get strewn across the desks at my forecast reviews.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I work for the government, and these fuckers know how to eat.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I have been banned from lunch by Colin Powell.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Aww!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

We never got meat-a-balls when I worked for der govverment either! What a chiz. Lots of soggy sandwiches though. Some with Real Actual Unidentified Content! They were giving this stuff to Cherie Blair! If it was an assasination attempt I wd not have been surprised. BLECH.

Luckily I have GUTS OF STEEL and can withstand anything.

I hate the sodding pink dip you always get in four packs of dip. In fact it's ALL rub apart from sour cream and you're lucky THEN if it's not all water. RUBBISH RUBBISH if God had meant us to eat dips we would have regenerating BREADSTICK FINGAZ!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Mini lamb koftas are staple meeting food round these parts. Nummy nummy num num.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I think I have come up with the best idea ever but with toasted soldiers and boiled EG.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

four months pass...
Man, I love curry. I just knocked up a fab Aloo Saag++ from contents of fridge for lunch. Took me all of half an hour and I'm now fully fed in preparation for imminent blood test and Dave B party ruin.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

smee (smee), Thursday, 8 April 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 8 April 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I had carrot sticks and hummus and it was DULL DULL DULL and I want jaffa cakes.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Thursday, 8 April 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

five years pass...

What should I eat for lunch?

Options include -- crappy chinese food, chipotle burrito, really crappy salad bar, walking a ways to get some overpriced ethiopian food, quizno's, sbarro. i know, sad, isn't it. the other option is a hamburger but i'm sort of on a diet.

amateurist, Wednesday, 16 September 2009 21:28 (sixteen years ago)

is the crappy salad bar so crappy that you can't even have a decent salad with non-iceberg greens & some other veg? also, it's nearly supper time!

ian, Wednesday, 16 September 2009 21:48 (sixteen years ago)

one year passes...

this thai chicken salad is off the hook! glass noodles, lettuce, red peppers, green peppers, shrimp, chicken, celery, carrots, and special spicy sauce. holy cow, i'm in love! its sweet, its sour, its spicy! it is all things good.

scott seward, Saturday, 11 June 2011 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

i'm on a mexican (get bent), Thursday, 23 June 2011 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

i'm on a mexican (get bent), Thursday, 23 June 2011 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

I had lunch 5 hours ago. (Eggs scrambled with minced gravlax and onion, buttered english muffin.) Definitely ready for 2nd Lunch.

Mr. Patrick Batman (WmC), Thursday, 23 June 2011 21:35 (fourteen years ago)

mmmm, that thai salad. that emu/beef/lamb/sausage chili i had today was, um, aromatic. good and gamey. don't think i've actually ever had emu before today. kinda venison-y.

scott seward, Thursday, 23 June 2011 21:38 (fourteen years ago)

local emu, naturally.

bag of cherries + spicy nacho doritos.
