No, it just has 10,000 times more taste.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

and it's 10000x easier to make your spoon stand up in it.

The myth perpetrated that beer has to have taste is a cruel joke foisted on the US by a dead empire.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

beer should have that kidney filtered quality about it

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Portland OR has some pretty good beer.

calstars (calstars), Friday, 21 November 2003 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(I was of course being sarcastic) Some of the beers we had at that place by the pier in NYC were really good and almost cheap enough to where I didnt feel like I'd been anally raped after paying for them.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Leaving your anus free to be raped by other things.

I had a blueberry wheat lambic at Bukowski's in Boston. It tasted like waffles! Just imagine, Waffle Beer! Take THAT, Turkey & Gravy soda!

Jeremy the Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, like the fist of the bartender who served me the $14 double Jack and Coke I had in Brooklyn (yes I know I was getting tedious with my complaining, Ally, Tom and Rosemary!).

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

$14! I'd complain too.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a very generous double (probably about 4 ounces or so), but yeah. I almost laughed at the dude when he said "that'll be $14" but I was playin' it cool NY stylee (or whatever).

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Bukowski's!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't get me wrong, though! It was a nice place and I was with good people so I wasn't too worried about it!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

God, don't tell me you tipped him?

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

When I go to NYC I'm packin' a fucking flask, that's for sure.

somebody, Friday, 21 November 2003 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no recollection but I'm guessing at least a couple of bucks.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm convinced everybody that lives in NYC is a millionaire

cheapo tightwaddington (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

only four people there have jobs and they're all the same person.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 21 November 2003 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

damn that lou reed

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

what an odd question! You can buy UK beer in the US and vice versa so.....

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

My insane friend Kelly insists that there's no comparison between UK beer purchased in the UK and UK beer purchased in North America, that the traveling ruins it (he lived in Oxford). He said Guinness (when he was in Ireland) was best very close to where they make it and got progressively worse as you moved away from the brewery. This opinion isn't exactly why I say he's insane but it doesn't really change my thinking about him.

Leaving your anus free to be raped by other things.

this post could really use a smiley emoticon at the end.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Bryan is OTM, but this isn't to do with strength. Ales and stout don't travel well, but lagers do AFAIK. I live in Oxford too - maybe I'll run into yr insane friend ;)

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he's back living here (lucky for you).

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

SIerra Nevada Pale Ale never tastes as good here in Chicago as when I've had it out west.
I think lagers just always taste like shit so you don't notice any drop-off in taste from transport. (only half-joking)

oops (Oops), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, but you guys eat pudding with blood and shit in it.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

And you get all excited about pig hairs in the soft bit of fried pork skins. I'll never trust your tastes on anything.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 21 November 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

omg wtf you know something's wrong when your own chuffs smell so awful you want to be sick. I suspect the pint of Fuller's ESB I had with lunch might be in part responsible. Ally C to thread?

This thread took a dire turn. But I am happy to see hardman RJG finally break down and sob like a little girl.
