A four-hour rollercoaster of drunken thrills! DJs Carsmile and Cockfarmer return! AND! New blood on the decks in the form of DJ Crow Atak and DJ Hasn't Got A Stupid Beginning-With-C Name Yet! More indie! More pop! An Erection Section if I can possibly get away with it! Astonishing chat-up lines! YOU MUST BE THERE!

July 5th (i.e. THIS THURSDAY) at Club Latino, Oxford, 10pm - 2 am, £3 to get in and it's dead easy to get there and back on the bus. Pre-club drinks this time to be had in the Angel And Greyhound, which is about 4 doors up from Club Latino.

Club Sussed: It's an indie nite but it's actually good!

Tom, Sunday, 1 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is there a cheap plane at our disposal?

Simon, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DJ Constant Spray. Just to let you know. It'll be PHAT!

sarah, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Who's coming, then? Any requests?

Tom, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I won't be there, but I'd like to request "Sour Girl" by Stone Temple Pilots. (Note that I would not be requesting this song if I was actually going to be in attendance.)

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What I always want to hear. The Shangri-Las.

masonic boom, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There will never be a club sussed where I do not bring a record by the Shangri Las.

Tom, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I fear I may not be along on Thursday as I have to go into work on Friday this time.

But I'll see you on Friday in the KoC. (Early doors beer in Rupert ST Blue Posts?)

Pete, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ditto. Why don't you have a club in London or somewhere proper?

Emma, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what emma said. a london club would rule

gareth, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Everyone back to ours!

Emma, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This is not the proper arena for discussion of pre-karaoke drinks, surely.

Success of club in Oxford may - who knows - lead to a club in London? Failing that there's always Triggerfest in August.

Tom, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tell me more of this London thing called Triggerfest.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Despite promises to the contrary I won't be able to make it tomorrow either. I've already turned up to work in a less than wonderful state once this week and twice might be pushing it a little.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Wednesday, 4 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You dogs - nobody is going to come, oh God, etc.

Triggerfest - huge festival of fun and laughter which I don't actually think anyone's done anything about setting up. 1st weekend in August, basically.

Tom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am going whether anyone likes it or not! Is ANYONE going to go and Ride The Red Bus with me, or am I going to sit by myself and fantasise about Radiohead?

masonic boom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DG - you still planning on coming?

I have it on good authority that the playing of a LLOYD COLE RECORD is planned by one of the DJs (not me). Maybe the Pinefox could be encouraged from his den...?

Tom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am too weak and sickly to attend. I will be karaokising tomorrow though.

I was interested in the Triggerfest until I found out it had nothing to do with Roy Rogers.

Tim, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Who sez? "Huge festival of fun and laughter" doesn't rule out Roy Rogers, not after all the Thom Yorke of the cowboy world.

Tom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am interested in Triggerfest, now that I know there may be a Roy Rogers element to the festivities.

Tim, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

will there be an only fool and horses element though?

sorry I can't come tonight either, tomorrow is pay-day, consequently I have much less than no money at the moment.

cabbage, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hmm...I might be there, although it's extremely unlikely. It's not that I don't want to, it's the journey - I'll have to do it on my own and then negotiate London and the night buses *AGAIN*. Not sure. Anyone up for coming with me?

DG, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DG, Paul & I are meeting outside Victoria Station where the OxTube leaves from around 5.30 - anyone wanting company there & back is welcome to join us. I'm wearing my new Spacemen3 t-shirt in case anyone hasn't met me yet and needs to recognise us. Hooray!

masonic boom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Paul got the time off? Yay!

Tom, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good god, you all, I am SO SORRY for my drunken shennanigans last night. Club Sussed was GRATE. Getting thrown off the Oxford Tube in Hillingdon for being drunk and disorderly was not so grate. Managed not to get arrested through sheer charm. On Paul's part. SOOOO sorry, DG!

masonic boom, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What the fuck happened???

Post the full story, and NOW!

are you banned from the Oxford Tube? Will DG ever speak to you again? I bet you're glad you're going out with a solicitor!

GOODGRIEF.

sarah, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would've liked to have been there but couldn't be, for much the same reason as why I couldn't be at the last one and why I haven't been to any gigs or record fairs or indie clubs or anything else fun or interesting since ATP. (Wah, withdrawal symptoms.) Perhaps next time...

I should really learn to drive, I guess, since right now the 20 miles to Oxford / 12 miles to the nearest record shop might as well be 20 light years for all the possibility there is of getting there outside bus times. Still, at least I can bus to the shops and back on a Saturday; better than a lot of places round here. (Do not be fooled by the cover of XTC's "An English Settlement" into thinking that living in the SW corner of Oxon might be cool. It's resolutely dud, with absolutely nothing at all of interest apart from said weirdly- shaped chalk horse which might not even be a horse, and feels even more dud for the fact that I should have escaped by now and nearly did but not quite.)

So. What happened? What did I miss? Was there an erection section? What happened on the Oxford Tube? Did you see the elusive A&G cat? Etc.

rebecca, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Of course I'll speak to Kate again, it's not like I had to get up for work this morning and was delayed etc. Mind you I'd speak to Kate again anyway if that had happened. I won't post what did happen because that's Kate's decision to spill the beans, not mine.

DG, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Errrrmmmmm... best not to get into it. The toilets weren't working. I got into a bit of air rage with the driver. We shan't discuss it further. It was a bit too rock'n'roll, even for me.

However, I think I have been banned from Riding The Red Bus. In the future I will have to use the blue bus, which doesn't even pretend to have toilets in the first place. This terribly state of affairs has resulted in the fact that to get to Radiohead tomorrow, I am going to have to ride down on the EMI coach with the liggers and the record company a***holes.

Oh, did I mention? Someone gave us tickets for Radiohead tomorrow. Regrets to Sarah and the Brixton picnic, but you know... Thom Yorke is excessively good looking and all.

masonic boom, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thom Yorke is excessively good looking and all.

Ever since it was mentioned that Radiohead will be on South Park, all I can imagine is Thom Yorke sitting down somewhere, able only to utter the word: "Thommy!".

Nicole, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wah! That exact episode of South Park is airing for the first time on UK TV as I type.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Apparently Club Lat are letting us have a third (THE FOOLS) - I'll leave DJ Carsmile to provide details cos I don't have any. I will try and get less drunk next time and play more sensible tunes. It will of course be AWESOME.

Tom, Saturday, 7 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kate: Oops, that sounded very rude and nosy. Sorry. All semblance of manners and tact was abandoned in the sheer JOY of realising that it was hometime on a Friday. Plus I'm so used to people taking my five- hour "don't feel compelled to answer if you don't want to and I'm being too nosy" disclaimers as read and finding them intensely annoying that I forgot that they might still be needed with people I don't know. Sorry. And it was a stream of not entirely serious questions, i.e. I wasn't really expecting a full update on pub cat sightings.

I'd be surprised if they could manage to ban people when they don't ever seem to ask for ID or anything. Maybe it's just that they don't ever ask me for student ID because, since I'm approximately three inches tall, look about 6 years old, wear the world's sloppiest clothes, and look like I only just got up at 4pm and would generally not get up until hours later, it's fairly obvious that I'm not too old for studentdom. But I should probably stop this before I end up looking rude again, if I haven't already. Er. Yes. Sorry.

rebecca, Saturday, 7 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Carsmile, is it too much to ask to have the next one, say, on the 26th of this month? One can but try.
