Just makin' small talk -- something I'm no good at as you can tell. How good are you at mingling at parties of people you don't know?

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Good enough. You just have to ask them questions about themselves.

Ally, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fantastic so long as I'm drunk and they're good looking or vice versa.

I am known as a supreme being. I am worshipped in three systems as the gigantic orange fold and I have semi diety staus in most of the gentrified systems of Andromeda

I don't do mingle.

Geoff, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I must be the opposite to Ally because I always spend my time answering other people's questions (which is great because I get to talk about myself and that's my favourite subject)

Just glare at people and cultivate an aura of mystery. They will then leave you alone in the kitchen, where you parked yourself by the fridge since the start of the party and haven't moved an inch from since.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why even go to parties if you don't know anyone? I am too terrified.

Bill, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But yes, the kitchen has been a useful option before now!

Bill, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well thanks for asking!...Just be working on a film script today, and watching the rain.

At parties, I think I would be good at small talk, if everyone else was drunk.

jel, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Around 95% of the girls I've dated, I initially met at parties -- so, yeah, parties are a good thing, and I'm a good thing at parties, I guess.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm horrible. I don't like small talk with strangers; I immediately bring up books, music, or religion, which doesn't make me horribly popular but can be interesting. I only say stupid irrelevant things with people who are already my friends.

Maria, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no good. people i don't know mostly don't interest me. i never go to parties with people i don't know.

di, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love 100 percent love going to parties where I know noone. People always think I'm something I'm not and stuff. I don't know. Thats why I like it. People you meet for the first time who try and categorise you. Fun for all the family.

Ronan, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But everyone always thinks i spend all day in my house reading latin literature and the dictionary and listening to bach, and then work all night on my homework. They think I am a robot. (That is only partially true.) Still, you're right, it is very much fun to strip them of their illusions.

Maria, Monday, 8 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well i'm v jealous of all you easy to chat people. i'd love to do that. i hate talking about myself (as i'm so boring) so i have to ask other people about themselves, then i discover they're boring too (in other ways) and then i hang around like a fool trying to politely drift off, then i leave having made no new friends, then i bitch about it to my (surprise) few extant friends
