Anyone living in Philadelphia should immediately go to Metropolitan Bakery and buy a pumpkin custard triangle. I don't know how I am going to keep from going back and buying the rest of them.

What are your favorite pumpkin treats?

I don't like mushroom and squash together.

Pumpkin cheesecake brownies are pretty good.

At our pre-Thanksgiving fest on Sunday, we had several pumpkin pies, pumkin cheesecake, and pumpkin challah bread. Oh and baked pumpkin seeds. Earlier this month I've had pumpkin milkshakes, pumpkin risotto, pumpkin bread, and a pumpkin spaetzle. Haven't had any pumpkin ravioli or pumpkin coffee yet this year (sad about the former, not so sad about the latter, it's the closest to "destroy" but I still wouldn't destroy it).

I did something like Ed suggests only with leftover mashed potatoes, roasted garlic & shallots and cheese. It looks really good on the dinner table too.

S: pumpkin beer, roast pumpking seeds for snackin'

Nice xpost!

"pumpking", sounds like a gas station chain!

Oh yeah, I forgot about pumpkin beer! That stuff can be good. (Why didn't I include pumpkin on that "I'd eat anything that had [X]" thread?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 25 November 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Good in stews, good in breads. I like the seeds better than the pumpkin itself, though, to be honest, and ordinarily if I'm making a non-fruit pie I'd rather make pecan, buttermilk, shoofly, sweet cream, etc. (I like pumpkin pie, I just don't love it. Don't get hatin on me.)

Once I was meeting my then-bf for lunch at his school, and we went into the bodega (corner store) to grab some food, and I pick up an Entenmann's pumpkin pie. "Oh," he says, "I'm not sure if we should get that, I don't like it that much, I'll probably have a slice but getting a whole pie seems like a waste of money." "Oh," I said, "I guess you can have a slice if you want..." (Sure enough he ate 1/8 and I ate 6/8 of it).

Search: everything. Especially pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream, Krispy Kreme's pumpkin doughnuts, and sri lankan-style pumpkin curry.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 25 November 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and pumpkin soup of course
