In this case classic, as "Nation in Love with Girl from Record Store" is an all-time great which had (I think) disappeared from the archives. Plus, it's ILX's theme link, along with 37 Record-Store Clerks Feared Dead In Yo La Tengo Concert Disaster.

and recent 'Rock history written by losers'

Yeah, I'd like to change my vote.

Even when The Onion is running "new" material it's still rerun, isn't it? It's funny and all but endless variations on "Local man does ordinary thing" and "My ro-bot nurse is mocking me" and "Jesus man, we were so wasted while we were driving around" sort of wore thin years ago.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 November 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

except the Robot Nurse ones haven't ran in years, since they launched T Herman Zwiebal into space.

Hah, yeah, it's really been years since I gave up on checking the Onion every week so I should probably zip my trap about it.

The article a couple of weeks back about the White House not knowing energy secretary Spencer Abrhaham doing porn in the 80s was pretty funny.

it's all good; yeah, a few weak joins, but the US dept of defensiveness was a good idea ('well you sort out iraq'), but it's still better than anything else out there.

All the real laughs are in the front page sidebar, like the poll etc.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 26 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe I'm a bad bad person but even when I still found the whole thing funny my favourite part were the fake teasers that were just a photo with a caption on top.

T-Ball Stand Pitches Perfect Game at Special Olympics

Whenever I start thinking about how lame The Onion is, my mind reminds itself of that headline, and I just start laughing all over again.
