This is a Serious Question: Anyone want to form a band in NYC?

I bet there are more guitar players here than any else. I play guitar, drums and bass. But I say even if it's like 12 guitar players, two bassists, and one drummer, we'd still sound pretty good. Think of how many parts there would be to a song!

calstars (calstars), Thursday, 27 November 2003 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i play "percussion"

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 27 November 2003 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 27 November 2003 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I have taken much inspiration from Frightwig and Lucinda Williams.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 27 November 2003 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Influences, yes.

Do you like at least three of the following bands?: Groundhogs, James Gang, Speed Glue & Shinki, Mastodon, Electric Wizard, ZZ Top, Drive By Truckers, Steely Dan, Electric Wizard, Royal Trux...?

roger adultery, Thursday, 27 November 2003 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

roger man c'mon I am your guitar player, maybe even drummer.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 06:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost sold my guitars and amps and pedals and keyboard but for some reason just... couldn't quite... bring myself to do it.

On another note, a friend of mine said his new solo album sounds like Outkast meets the Fall.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 27 November 2003 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone want to start a band in London? I'm sick of neo-shoegazing, I want to show them how *real* shoegazing is done!

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Roger if you're a drummer or bass or rhythm guitar or triangle player just call me right fuckin' now. If you do gtr solos yourself I'm sure we can work something out

dave q, Thursday, 27 November 2003 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Forming band = losing friends.

(still often worth it obv)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I can play the oboe and theremin in this new band.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 27 November 2003 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate I will form a band with you. Our first album will be an epic musical based on Brideshead Revisited.

Sam (chirombo), Thursday, 27 November 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I play bassoon, surely this would fit nicely with the Brideshead musical?

Jonathan Z., Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i will be in your band kate, aslong as I can just stand around looking vacant?!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay, Sam and Pink! Shoegazer epics about Brideshead Revisited! And so long as you look vacantly at your SHOES, Pink, yer in!

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool, If I wear all black, can I wear my pink shoes?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Certainly! Maybe I will dye my hair fuschia to match... Then we can be the new Lush!

When are we EVER going to have that meeting with my boss?

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay! (i think!)

is the meeting about whether you are staying or not?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

First song: The Bumblebee of Flyte

Sam (chirombo), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I said we were the new Lush, not the new Fonda 500!

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and suddenly you make all the decisions, huh? I want out!!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Who said you were in our band anyway?

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

That's been your attitude since we started the band! You used to be cool, once - the music industry has ruined you, man.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

*looks vacant & stares at her pink shoes*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

::strums pretty guitar and sings prettily about shoes::

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

*Explodes into frenzied bent-note screaming rawk solo*

Sam (chirombo), Thursday, 27 November 2003 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave - the solos are all you dude. I prefer holding things down on teh bass or something.

Stencil, i'm game man. I'm about to buy my first drum kit after playing guitar and bass poorly for years. I write great songs tho, and am capable enough to make a racket on any old thing.

roger adultery, Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

*does that thing where I crouch down and turn like I'm spraying the crowd with a machine gun*

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 27 November 2003 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I just need an additional person to sing along with my computer.

nabiscothingy, Thursday, 27 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I am here for you, Nabisco.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

...in electric dreams.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Together. Forever.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i will start another band in LA if i can play this:

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 27 November 2003 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually a decent part of me has sort of wanted to rope a couple people in on a pop group to do some kind of stripped-down early-Cocteaus-but-with-dance-beats (instead of big echoey blurting) kind of thing (plus poppier).

nabiscothingy, Thursday, 27 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Funk New York. It's too hip!!

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i play keyboards! i'll be back in nyc dec. 2

geeta, Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll play the triangle and do the hand-claps. or maybe i could be one of the fly-girls?

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I play stuff. I want to sound like a Russian minimalist ELO.

bad jode (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, this goes perfectly with my New Wave Of Shoegazing thing! Like Lush, with Reason.

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 28 November 2003 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

if I move back to NY can I be Bez?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 November 2003 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i sound like bryan ferry with a headcold and i like to fuck around with a drum machine. too bad i don't live in nyc, we could have blurbs in interview by now.

typo acapulco (gcannon), Friday, 28 November 2003 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)
