If you had the chance to retire into the equivalent of the cartesian 'stove' (in other words, if you had a break in order to freely reflect on something) what would be the the object of your attention?

Do you mean a physical object to meditate on or somethign to think about, such as wot Jim said?

I'd stare at swirly wallpaper, were there some. Write stories in my head. Talking to myself, talking to pretend other people also.

Héhé it's true descartes was a bit of a touchy-feely, not even wanting to bother to put the wood in the fire. I mean it as "total freedom of thought". No concerns, no responsibilities. I like the input of doing this already, so was I in many ways; but I want to increase/exacerbate freedom just because, what would it be here and now

There is this idea I like :"cultural object". it can be anything produced by kultcha: song, work system, etc. it's similar to that idea of "musicking"

clouds are my thing at the moment. i am in love with the fabulous cloud formations in new zealand. i would stare at them for hours, thinking of nothing but what i was seeing.
