"where's the forum?"

This generic question was brought to my attention by tv tonite and thought it was funny since it's an old word that everyone living in a big city can relate to, and probably many of y'all have been asked that question by confused tourists in their car with an map open on their lap.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:52 (twenty-two years ago)

ok :-)

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:54 (twenty-two years ago)

in nyc it's called madison square garden

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:54 (twenty-two years ago)

and there it's above Penn Station, so confused tourists find it easy.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

is the madison square garden = yankee stadium?

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

in athens it is called stegeman coliseum but some people still call it 'the tub' from when tubby was here (we miss you tubby!)

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

no, yankee stadium = yankee stadium

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

madison square garden = madison square garden

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

no. If Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden were the same place they probably wouldn't need two names. Unless they fired Tubby.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

um, wait nevermind I'm just gonna confuse you.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ah so it's two seperate places. so is this.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

is the madison square garden so much more popular than the yankee stadium to dismiss it for this thread?

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

this time of year, yes

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

ain't got nothing to add to this logic :-)

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

blount, any time of year Yankee Stadium's more popular, the way the Knicks and Rangers are playing these days.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

even with the Marlins winning and all.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

even with the knicks city dancers???

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

dude it's probably cheaper to go to Flashdancers and they get nude there.

hstencil, Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the caption (I shit you not): How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie and Arthur Pell is a true American classic that has helped us improve our people skills. It will work for you too.

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

bizarre caption non sequitors over there

"Mystic River is Clint Eastwood's latest - and possibly best - film as a director." (???)

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

is it true the "Sims" eventually get mad if you don't build them a stadium?

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

no

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

why would anyone have programmed that isn'it?

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

sabotage

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"where's the forum?" also made me remember about the books bernard weber wrote about ants (in his last one he had a sim city like game that was used to test out different social theories)
he was careful to mention that ants are not communist, or anarchist or whatever; ants are ants!
still liked the similarity with the tourist asking about the forum and 2 ants exchanging communicational pheromones

A funny thing happened to me on the way to ILX...
