I am supposedly feeding 10 people in Oxford on Saturday. I had one earmarked at Waitrose and it got sold. I am an idiot.

Tofurkey clearly is your friend. If they have it over there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Does the UK have any Thanksgiving type holiday?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Try another Waitrose? Ask our nice local butcher Mr. Head?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Kwurkey is the Blam of poultry

Butcher on Theobald's Road that supplies Moro and The Eagle has them.

Suzy to the rescue!

Is Mr Head the Peckham butcher who taught Daniel Day-Lewis everything he knows? I will try him but his opening hours seem to be about 11- 11.30 on alternate weekdays.
xpost Suzy d'you know what it's called? (by the way your stuffing was delicious)

Sam (chirombo), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes he's Danny DL's friend, usually open by 9 when I'm setting off for work. But Suzy's tip is probably better.

The butchers in the indoor market in Oxford have zillions of fresh turkeys.

C J (C J), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

But enough about the students ho ho.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the butchers in the covered market had shut down.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The one right in the middle? Hedges? When did that close? (I'm sure I walked past headless pigs and dangling turkeys there one day last week)

Failing that, the farm shop at Peachcroft in Abingdon have turkeys.

C J (C J), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys are gems. Theobald's road (McKanna meats) has sorted me out, and my brother is covering the covered market just in case.

I think I might cry.
