Can you believe "If It Feels Good Do It" did not convert a Canadian Rock fan to the magic of SLOOOOOO-OOOOAAAN????

Because I can't. I just can't.

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, this song is dedicated to you! 'cause this song is for people who know what rock and roll is about!

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

this song is about a band that hasn't had a reason to strive for 8 years

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

On a similar subject, does anyone want to buy my Sloan album on eBay? It's "Smeared" and it starts at only 75p!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

If my talking about Andrew's crotch for three hours straight didn't turn him off Sloan forever, then I can't imagine anything turning him back on to them...

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

No, this is a guy I work with! He was dragging on and on about all the bands he was turned on to because of Due South and I was like, "What? The Tragically Hip?" To which he became very excited. But he knew nothing of Sloan. And I said, man, you know NOTHING of Canadian music if you do not know Sloan. So I brought in PRetty Together today and played for him THE RAWK that is track 1 and he was unmoved. UNMOVED!

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Although he may have just been unmoved by Chris Smurphy, since he said he didn't like The Guy's voice.

So I guess I'm appalled in different ways, since I think Chris Smurphy is a Sexy Bitch. and smarmy. mmmm.... smarmy!

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, regardless. You should have played him the Andrew tracks.

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Jay, it's all about Jay!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, usually. Just not on Pretty Together. On any other album, I would agree with you, Huck, but on Pretty Together, it's all about Andrew. And his extremely tight trousers.

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

mr. noodles to thread.

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought about bringing in Between the Bridges to play him The NS but couldn't find it on my way out this morning.

I love The NS. That was my favorite Sloan song until "The Other Man," which is just mmmm... Smurphy.

Hey Kate! Remember when we watched that Sloan video over and over last summer? That was awesome. Remember when Chris Smurphy licked the microphone and you were totally grossed out? And when Andrew flicked his hair in gorgeous slo-mo at the end and you squealled in glee?

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, that's so last summer. It's all about Nigel Spivey now. ;-)

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Sloan must fall into the "bands precluded from UK success by their name" category.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, who is this Nigel Spivey? I demand pictures!

smee (smee), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Buy my CD, everyone!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

No thanks, Lashizzle.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 27 November 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't tempt me...

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

75p! It'll be with you as soon as the auction finishes! Go on!!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

So last summer:

As for photos of Nigel Spivey, I will leave that to kate.

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

What's the deal with Chris and the little children? I've seen Sloan multiple times, and on at least three occasions Chris has brought out some 9-12 year old boys onto the stage and exhorted them to act like they are 'rocking out' while the band plays. The kids usually seem a little frightened of him.

webcrack (music=crack), Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

How in gods good name did I miss this thread?

Jay has been the only reason for hope in Sloan since Between The Bridges.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, I should say, Jay's been one of the only hopes for pop music since Between The Bridges.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually meant to ask you why you weren't all over this thing, but the butter chicken made me forget.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Butter Chicken.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Chicken made out of butter? Canadian Thanksgiving IS different.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

If you can spell the Indian name for it, then you get 10 points Ned.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

B-A-C-K B-A-C-O-N.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 November 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

What are your feelings on the Alberta seal hunt Ned?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I know nothing of the barbarous rituals conducted beyond the borders of this, God's Country. Excuse me, I need to crucify myself on a Stars and Stripes flag now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 November 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

May I sugest using the wheels of artillery, since the Canadian army used to use those for military punishment, not till death of course.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 29 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Wowzer!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)
