The problem with this argument is it assumes that people who post on ILx necessary have an opinion in the first place. The fear of sticking ones head above the parapet may also be a demonstration of the internal argument which may wrack the individual poster about not really holding strong opinions.

Why would you post an argument if not to invite critique? This way you get the flattery of someone taking your opinions seriously without having to endure theirs.

Seriously though it's harmless at worst. If someone directly asks you for your opinion it's polite to give it, otherwise there's nothing wrong at all with not bothering to state your own position. If you're critiquing someone else then usually your position can be implied anyway, unless you're doing it entirely as a game/troll but that's fairly detectable too.
