good or bad? i can't think of anyone 'better' on the horizon so i'm inclined to say good - longer reign = more chance of winning something soon?

perhaps more interestingly, Trevor Brooking has been appointed FA Director of English football...

Chelsea fans will breath a sigh of relief.

well so do i personally. Sven may not be perfect but were he to go, who would take his place? (a different question to 'who would you like to take his place?' and more difficult to answer perhaps)

I was pretty stunned to hear about the offer yeserday; considering recent events, the obvious problems between Sven and Palios, i hadn't bargained on this. I was certain that the FA was looking hopefully toward the day when Sven quit after EURO 2004 and they would then, relieved, appoint Alan Curbishley. It's a good sign though, because it seems to indicate that Palios doesn't mind putting the success of the England team above personalities and differences, a rare thing in any business, let alone football.
Sven is, after all, the most expensive option out there.

Incidentally i think Curbs would do an excellent job, which is why i'd prefer him at Spurs instead. Also Brooking being there is a great talisman.

I am happy for him to stay. I'd love to see an English manager turning a decent-to-good team into a really good or great one, rather than building a solid team out of poor ingredients, as I think the former is more relevant, and not all managers can do both these things - Graham Taylor may be a good example.
