Do you have a ritual that you must go through as soon as you get home from work? Are there certain things that you must do when you get in?

That should have said Home from Work Ritual.

Yet another masturbation thread.

I can't bear to have money, keys or my wallet in my pocket while I'm in the house. i don't really like wearing my watch in the house either. So I always make sure I go upstairs and take everything out of my pockets and remove my watch when I get in and feel frustrated if I can't do this straight away for some reason. I have no idea why this is, it seems quite irrational, but still.

Fascinating stuff, Mark!

it's kinda odd.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 28 November 2003 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I always take my jacket off. Does that count?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 28 November 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

More seriously I also dump money on the table.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 28 November 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

taking everything out of your pockets is a pain in the ass when you do it without thinking, then run out to the store and realize your wallet and money are sitting upstairs on the bedroom table.

I come upstairs, put the mail, my wallet, and my keys on the table, sometimes turn the TV to King of the Hill, then go in the bedrrom and change out of work clothes. Voila.

hellbaby (hellbaby), Saturday, 29 November 2003 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

put my satchel in its "spot", take my security pass and tram ticket out of my pocket, remove any cds i've bought from my satchel, read the mail and then go on the internet. almost exactly like this every work day.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 29 November 2003 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i cannot remove my keys from my pocket. i would feel more naked without my keys than anything else.

Feed the cats, change out of work clothes, turn on Simpsons (if I've made it home in time), open beer/soda, turn on computer, cry.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 29 November 2003 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

ooooo noooooo!
don't cry, there are too many of us crying these days. we need to find a way to make each other laugh! i work long hours but if i am home, AIM/iChat me!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 29 November 2003 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Keys, wallet, mobilephone all get dumped on the kitchen side, coat/jacket gets slung over the chair, go upstairs and ritually make my room into even more of a fucking tip.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I am joking about the crying bit. Usually. Depends on how the kids were that day and how many beers are in the fridge I get home.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i have like seperate wardrobes of outside stuff and old trackybums and t-shirts and dressing gowns and that, i simply cannot wear jeans in the house. it's like when u were a kid and stayed the night at ppl's houses after school and the first thing they'd do is do their homework! W T F

prima fassy (bob), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

in their uniform!

prima fassy (bob), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

No getting home from work ritual for me. It's more the getting out of the house ritual, checking everything's locked up and turned off. Oh dear.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Come in the door, startle the fuck out of Nick cos he's in the study working/playing Max Payne 2 with his headphones on and doesn't hear me come in, then put my keys on top of the tv, which I made a ritual to stop leaving the house without them/losing them. Then I more often than not grab a wine, flop on the couch, smoke a cig, watch the Simpsons/Law and Order/etc and whine about how I should make dinner but am too tired.
