So, can we have these again, please? I wanna win smuttiest poster!

Ewing, Baran etc. to thread.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 November 2003 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

This is just an excuse for the London based posters to go out and get drunk! Well done.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 November 2003 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Almost as bad an idea as last night's Scottish Politician of the Year awards.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 28 November 2003 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't want an awards ceremony this year, we shoulda done it last year when I was a shoe in to win something. This year my ILX stock has plummeted. Don't invest in jel.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 28 November 2003 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I was just reading this thread, with the snooker on the telly, and as i'm scrolling down, just when my eyes hit the dancing smilies some techno comes on the tv so it looks like they're bouncing to it and creates the most perfect synchronicity. It was cool.

Pete S, Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

those are the most cheerful happy faces ever! they bounce!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This makes me more sick than reading Hongropinions.

Pete S, Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It teaches a lesson.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Deconstruct the lesson for us.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 29 November 2003 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I like. Bravo.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 29 November 2003 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I would really, really, really like to win something - or at least get a nomination or two, but since I don't post here enough I think that's unlikely. I suppose I might do okay if there were a "Poster Who Isn't Actually Unruly In The Slightest Despite Their Name" category.

C J (C J), Saturday, 29 November 2003 07:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Though, ya know, I could get my Lifetime Achievement Award this time around! YEAH!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

So, is this a bad idea then? Or should we come up with relevant categories?

Or is it just another excuse to marginalise the less prolific and cliquey posters?

Once again, I call Ewing and Baran to thread.

Markelby (Mark C), Saturday, 29 November 2003 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

http://paloc.index.hu/friss/fat.gif

Too bad it's not this fast.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 29 November 2003 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

bad idea, sorry mate.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 November 2003 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

What?

http://fp.enter.net/~jkool/images/MK/MK%20Gifs/SUB%20FAT.gif

Aja (aja), Saturday, 29 November 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Almost as bad an idea as last night's Scottish Politician of the Year awards.

And the winners were?

Get merry, get pissed....and have a mug (er, glass) for I!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 29 November 2003 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate Becky Lucas for Best Breakthrough Act.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 29 November 2003 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh, she was a one-hit wonder.

NA (Nick A.), Saturday, 29 November 2003 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

We can't say that yet.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 29 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate lara byrne for best semi-lurker.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 29 November 2003 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

She isn't semi-lurk status anymore, so "Best Uber-Active Member".

Additional categories? Smartest Wise-ass
Sweetest Personality

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 29 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Internet hardman title to be decide by bareknuckle boxing, as many rounds as it it takes.

Ed (dali), Saturday, 29 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate myself for Best Nick Southall.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 29 November 2003 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, Nick gives me an idea of a category I'd maybe have a chance of winning! (Not Best Nick Southall, Best Martin Skidmore. I'd fancy making the top three there.)

That's why I think they are a bad idea. We know that the likes of Mark and Pete and Dan and so on would win awards, and thoroughly deserved they would be too, but I suspect these things make the big majority who don't do so well just feel worse. Life has a big enough popularity contest side to it already, without increasing it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 29 November 2003 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i win the 'talking lots and saying nothing' award

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 29 November 2003 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Can someone nominate me for the "Nominated for an Award of Some Sort Award"?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 29 November 2003 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

What could I be nominated for?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 29 November 2003 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

True. Same applies to laughing cutting pasting threads.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, you have to be called stevem for that. Idea - remove the space between Dave and B and go all lower case. It might just work.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

feel da veb!

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

anyone laffing?

daveb (daveb), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

tumbleweeds...

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Too much doofus-y chit chat, not enough giving out of awards.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Me for 'Unfunniest poster ever'.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

That would be Custos.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

on an bihourly basis

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Do people always nominate themselves? This is the stupidest awards show ever. Get to the musical guests.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to win an award for most random fights caused.

*Kicks Elvis Telecom's Lasagna to the floor in rage*

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate nickalicious as the "MOST APPROPRIATE POSTER ACCORDING TO TOPIC".

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate C J not only for "Only ILE Poster to Ever Even Think About Nominating Me for Anything" but also for "The Irving Pimpberg Award for Driving Hands Down the Nicest Automobiles Ever Driven by Any of Us"

also she's really nice.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate Ned Raggett for being "The poster who exits a thread battle the quickest".

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I second Haikunym's nomination.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Menelaus Darcy's butt to thread.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

"And now...she's the young beauty from such films as A Walk To Remember and possibly something else, and he's the inventor of the remix, let's here it for our next presenters: nu-Mandy Moore and Sean Puffy Combs!"

*applause*

nu-M: Thank you. We're here to present the award for Best Really Long Thread Title.
Puffy: Yeeeah, nu-Mandy, the competition is fierce this year.
nu-M: It's been a big year for ILX, there's been...
Puffy: Damn, girl, you lookin' GOOD! WTF happened to your hair? DAYUMN!
nu-M: Puffy! Okay, let's get to the nominees...

*ILX threads from the past year with long titles flash on monitors with dramatic music*

nu-M: Envelope please...and the winner is...
both: HELLTIME PRODUCTO!
nu-M: Helltime couldn't be here to receive his award, so here's Nickalicious to accept it in his honor...

Nick: Booyah mufucka, I'm stealing your award, how do ya like THEM apples?

*Nickalicious is ushered offstage by big breasteded women in evening gowns*

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Coming up after the break, a musical performance by the ILX favorite Dave Matthews Band! Stay tooned."

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Stay tooned

I read this as 'stay stoned.'

I nominate Ned Raggett for being "The poster who exits a thread battle the quickest".

*desperately tries to judge the level of potential sarcasm in light of the 'hip hop to the next level' and Return of the King threads*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow!! I haf been nominatededed and secondededed (or at least my car has been) for an award. Hurrah!

Since we can't all get together in real life for an Awards Ceremony, why don't we fix a time and date for a virtual one on an ILE Chistmas Party Thread, and we could incorporate award presentations into that?

I don't mind organising it - I could post a list of categories (if we can agree on them), then set up an email address for people to send their votes to (so they don't have to state publicly who their preferences are) and I'll get an independent adjudicator (i.e. my secretary) to count and verify the votes.

I'll organise all the music links for the party. You just all get dressed up and join in.

How about announcing categories by tomorrow, voting closes on 12th December, with the party being sometime in the week commencing December 15th?

Yes? No?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Fine. I nominate Ned's uncle or whatever for having the name Black Dick or whatever you said earlier. Why? I dont know.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

You are correct that I try to sit out more thread battles than not, though, so I think you're right anyway!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

CJ, Better check with Tom, Pete and the other ILX overlords before you start cancelling your secretary's holiday time. Looking back over the old thread indicates that the boards didn't descend into bitterness and recriminations, but maybe we don't need more competition and oneupmanship. On the other hand, if it causes Menelaus to return, it's gotta be worth it.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate Mark for best lasagne recipe.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh okay Mark, it was just a thought :)

C J (C J), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Which reminds me, what is happening with the Real Actual Proper ILE Christmas Party?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

CJ, it wasn't meant to be a rebuff! I personally think it's a bit of a laugh, so I'd kinda like to see it happen (while appreciating downsides etc. etc.).

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate Pashmina for the "Tollerance Awards" for cutting me slack when i called him a her.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

This is SO GAY.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

*shrugs*

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate Ally to shut her damn stupid hippie mouth and go back to work.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Do hippies get apoplectic?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I fail to see how backslapping and subjective POSITIVE commentary at this point in time on the boards is going to do anything but invoke subjective NEGATIVE commentary, and for someone who gets all the fuck over certain ilxors for getting involved in fights, you sure seem at your damnedest to cause one, Mark.

And the most unfunniest poster ever isn't even Lord Custos, Nicole.

I nominate Spinktor for biggest waste of my tax money ever in history BEYOTCH.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate everyone on the Quantum Physics thread for being ridiculous. I want to find where they are getting their sources to copy/paste their opinions. ILX is pulsing with brain power today...

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

All my thoughts ever are ctrl+c'd from the ether.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+c, ctrl+v....blahh blah blah.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hypocritical, yeah, fair enough. But I'm not trying to cause a fight.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate everyone on the Quantum Physics thread for being ridiculous. I want to find where they are getting their sources to copy/paste their opinions. ILX is pulsing with brain power today...

right. because IlXers are definitely not smart. oh, damn, i cut and pasted that. it's all just repetition anyways.

possible m (mandinina), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 December 2003 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

There should be an "Most Photoshopped ILXer of the Year" award, though I'm pretty sure who the winner would be...

Also, can we have a "Best Token Scandinavian" award? That way I too could get a nomination. "Best Finn" would be even better, for obvious reasons. ;-)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 4 December 2003 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"Best Finn"?? Tuomas wins "Most increased ego" ;)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 4 December 2003 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, make that "The Best-Looking, Coolest, Most Attractive, Most Lovable Finn on ILX, with the Best Beard" award.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 4 December 2003 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I nominate lara byrne for best semi-lurker.

Enough of the fuckwittage! I was never a lurker (semi or otherwise). I have never *ever* been without comment or opinion.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 4 December 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

do i win anything for photoshop?

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Thursday, 4 December 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

You can have Julio.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 4 December 2003 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

You and Sean C. share the ILX Photoshopper Most Likely To Make Nickalicious Lose His Shit Award, no diggity.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 December 2003 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)
