Squam Lake, where we have a lake house. I tried to find a photo of the Tootsie Roll house, but no luck; I'll have to take one the next time I'm there, it's incredible. (It's a glass and metal house shaped like a giant Tootsie Roll, built but no longer inhabited by someone who worked for the company, presumably an executive or something.)

Just as the land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers is thought of as the "cradle of civilization," this stretch of land between the Meramec and Mississippi rivers is a fertile valley of its own — especially for meth makers. Few other places in the world have as many meth-lab busts as Missouri's Meth-o-potomia. But that's not all this region has going for it. It's also home to lead mines, countless roadside firework stands (as well as the band the Bottle Rockets) and Missouri's death-row prison. Yes, for an unfortunate few, Meth-o-potamia may not be a favorite place to visit, but it is the last.

i have to say, i grew up there and liked many things about it. i visited during christmas a few years ago and was FREAKED OUT.

lets hope they opened a bottle of discount sparkling wine to toast themselves for 'Meth-o-potomia'

you can barely see it but there's a giant "g" on the mountain in the middle. people put stupid giant letters on mountains all along the mormon corridor, it's revolting.

behind that pov is a large shallow freshwater lake that used to be particularly vibrant and beautiful before inhabitants FUBAR'd it over the last century. now there's some movement to cut it in half with a highway so petri dishes of cultural insanity like eagle mountain and saratoga springs can have easier access to the mother population.
