it's really DARK out there right now, just the right type of gloom that unnerves me a little inside - as if i'll never see the sun again

how's the weather where you are? post pics to remind me how it could be

the seventh floor is shrouded in cloud. It looks like the end of the world out there!

chris (chris), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

typical Uxbridge then

maybe we should go and live north of the Arctic Circle for a year or two. then we'd never complain about this sort of thing ever again.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

true enough, I'm just popping out for a sarnie, and will report back on any presence of assorted horsemen/plagues/whatever

I know Gareth normally sez "Summer" starts in March - it maybe the first day of "Winter" today - but think of 3 months on.

when i went out to get my daily bagel, i was thinking that this looks a little like tornado weather in michigan. really dark sky, with a tinge of green. it freaked me out.

but you guys don't have tornados here, do you?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

they are very rare.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

we had one in Ruislip once. several shrubs were disturbed.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

waterspouts (tornadoes over the sea) are more common in the UK, tho I've never seen one myself.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 1 December 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a gorgeous, perfect day yesterday though!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 1 December 2003 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

the sun actually did burst out about 15 minutes ago which amazed me tho i should be used to it having lived here only all my life. looking a bit brighter now - i don't mind cloudy as long as it's bright.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 December 2003 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I like this weather. It legitimises my sky-rocketing consumption of cups of tea and buttered crumpets.

David (David), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, there's a crack in the clouds over the Chilterns right now and it looks amazing.

chris (chris), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Mulled wine, David?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ginger wine. I must buy a bottle of Crabbie's.

David (David), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

never had Crabbie's. Is it v. different from Stone's?

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

More gingery (and green). I've always preferred it to Stone's but Stone's seems to have squeezed it out of the large outlets in recent years (perhaps not in Scotland, I don't know). I know there's a shop in Kingsland High Street that stocks it so that's where I'll go.

David (David), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

David OTM, actually. It's also cheaper than Stones! I've not had any ginger wine for quite a while, come to think of it.

'I'm only happy when it rains'

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 1 December 2003 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The weather here is lovely, billowing clouds, racing across the moon, rain!
