Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

BUT BUT BUT NOW i WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS!!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 December 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

What, are the 80,000 undeleted threads somehow not enough?!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 1 December 2003 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

It was Calum whining about threads that have no purpose other than to insult the posters to this forum in general and Blount in particular getting deleted. If he can manage to start a thread on the topic that doesn't contain gratuitous potshots at Blount or the moderators en masse, I will leave it alone. If he starts another "WAAH THE MODERATORS ARE RESTRICTING MY FREE SPEECH" rant, I'm deleting it on the grounds that it is fucking stupid because this is not a free speech forum. I will continue deleting his posts until he exhibits signs of having a brain.

The sad thing is that up until today I was more on his side with respect to the "free speech"/consistency of treatment thing than not, but now I'm done.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

... it's a CHEEROCRACY!

Sarah the CheerTaitor (starry), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Most moderators start off being on C's side until they're actually on duty when he needs his happy changing.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, i was hoping for a Beerocracy.

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

And now he goes into hiding using various names.
Perhaps its a good thing I can't be on ilx as often at work.

I am all for the Beerocracy!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

why would he go away just to come back and do the exact same thing as before?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess that criticism can also be applied to Cliff Richard

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"happy changing" ha!

I still don't see the point of deleting things he writes that aren't directly abusive to people on the forum but as far as his "I AM PERSECUTED" rants are concerned; yes, you are, Calum. Get over it.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Nappy changing. Bah.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I here-by implement Martian Law.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Aww, Calum is sad; he needs to change his happy!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

*Kicks nearest passer-by in the nuts for no aparent reason*

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

If you did that on Canadian TV, Spinktor, you'd probably win a Gemini.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that a good thing?

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Since a Gemini is a simultaneous kick in the nuts delivered by conjoined twins, I'd have to say the answer is "yes".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait a second...something doesnt add up here....

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Gemini is in the house, yee-eah

daft punk (blueski), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Simultaneous...wouldnt they be easy to knock over? Im betting i could maneuver 'round that and square kick them in their heads. I win.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Monday, 1 December 2003 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

dan perry has the powah and he is clearly enjoying it!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 1 December 2003 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

It's gettin' kinda hectic.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

he will attack, and odds are you might not want that

nate detritus (natedetritus), Monday, 1 December 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

He turned me into a newt!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 1 December 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

(I got better.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 1 December 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

What is better than a newt?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

MORE newts!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

and what is man?

Jeremy the Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It's gettin' kinda hectic.

Tis all about juggling priorities....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Calum is a twat. Calum was instrumental in making the forum unreadable along with several others who were always willing to take his bait. The moderators decided to clamp down on the ensuing nastiness and locked the spat threads and announced that any further attempts to rekindle the nastiness would be deleted. Since then, the people who helped Calum shit all over the place have stopped responding to him but Calum has:

A) posted threads aimed at restarting the "feuds" by insulting his sparring partners and/or the moderators;
B) posted threads on seemingly innocuous topics as bait for others, then pounced on them with verbal abuse;
C) been a whiny, irksome prick.

Calum has basically worked things to the point where ANY thread that he starts is going to be deleted by one moderator or another. This is the thread, where I, as a moderator, say "Tough titty, Calum; this is not a free speech forum. Go whine to someone who actually gives a shit."

Feel free to search the archives for Calum/moderator discussion for more information.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 1 December 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i wz looking for a genuine free speech forum, and i found THIS message (on the Ask a Question page of the anarchy board back at LUSENET:

"Hi, I'm Jonath4n K4tz, Cliff's replacement. Cliff was a little too tempermental, and he had a heart problem, which caused him to have a heart attack when moderating the board last week (Sept 17th), so, I am in control now."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mark s (mark s), Monday, 1 December 2003 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Only the strong survive.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 December 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 1 December 2003 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

More collateral C**um damage.

bnw (bnw), Monday, 1 December 2003 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

this is what I miss when I decide to play "dungeon keeper: the deeper dungeons" on my new win/linux dual boot box0r which is not hooked up to thee internet yet.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 1 December 2003 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

deleting does seem a bit strong, but i guess it doesn't matter.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 1 December 2003 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

start up a new thread Ronan, like they did with the american football one cal-lame did.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 1 December 2003 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

As the only person with ultimate control over ILX, I must take this opportunity to state that I wholeheartedly endorse Dan Perry's statements and sentiment in this thread. As far as I'm concerned, his words here represent the official position on this matter.

ILX is not a "free speech forum". The moderators and I dictate what can and cannot be posted here. If you don't like it then fuck off! Leave us alone!

(Fortunately, most of you seem to like it just fine. I think we run a really decent discussion forum here, and more than once I've found myself feeling proud of it.)

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hear hear, Andrew! And Dan!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

but rather than deleting threads, can everything below the c. attack be removed and the thread locked for later revival if it looks like the thread might go somewhere interesting.

It would have been better if no one had ever risen to the bait in the first place, but if people need protecting from their own stupidity then so be it.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Lets just fight. I'll unleash the fury.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Fucking fury, you mean.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

wtf?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha yeah, we're the ones being choads here. I'm sorry, we'll stop destroying yr internet village. Dude! Now I just got in my head the image of all the little Whos down in Whoville singing their dumbass song and holding hands and then Calum's heart will grow 47 sizes that day and he'll just have to love you all.

Probably by jizzing all over you while thinking of Emma Bunton but regardless it'll be a good Xmas moment.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

stop being larry king

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

LOW BLOW

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the greatest thing anyone's ever said about me!! I LIKE HOT DOGS!! I FIND LORD OF THE RINGS TO BE A LITTLE OVERRATED AND NOT QUITE LIKE A CHRISTMAS GIFT TO THE ENTIRE WORLD. DONALD RUMSFELD.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway my point is that this board is nothing but fucking navel gazing and some kind of misapprehension that because we are all on the same internet forum, we are all a happy family and people like Calum threaten this. Let him post, I mean it all went perfectly fine and really quite amusingly on, for example, the Manics thread on ILM--if people want to take his bait CONSTANTLY then that just tells you that's what they want to read I guess.

AllyZay, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

But also that I agree that Dan has the right to delete whatever the hell he wants, I mean it's really not a big deal either way, I just see it as more obnoxious when people delete a thread and a whole new thread has to be started to tell everyone that a thread was deleted and lets have a big discussion on how a thread was deleted because clearly calling attention to this is GREAT.

Ahem. Haha dan you should delete this thread or edit it so the entire thing has a < MARQUEE> tag on it.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

put down the coffee cup ally

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You back on coke again?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck you.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally Lasagne!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

In theory, I agree with you, Ally.

In practice, I am tired of Calum's rants about his threads getting deleted, so I intend to delete them whenever I come across them. Other moderators have decided to just wholesale delete everything he posts. We are targeting him. It sucks to be him right now because he never gets to say anything. Oh well.

xpost to my fellow moderator Mr. Noodles: Don't think that because you're a moderator you get free reign. We're all subject to deletion, too.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

(Really the entire point of this thread was to basically inform everyone that I am powermad.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus! what's with all the hate? i dunno who calum is, but his posts can't be more dumb than oops's, so what's the problem?

Nu-Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh for fuck's sake. This is not the thread for everyone to take potshots at each other. Start your own threads for that (which I will then summarily delete).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)
