Ess Kay (esskay), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course I am!

My novel will be about robots, the weather and hair metal.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 October 2002 17:51 (twenty-three years ago)

my novel will be a pop-up book of tom petty guitar tablature

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 10 October 2002 17:56 (twenty-three years ago)

It was a cold sunny day, Tom Petty stepped out of his Nissan Micra. He stubbed out his cigarette, and sighed. It was another day of writing tablature, all those numbers and hammer-ons. "No one plays guitar anymore, it's all computers, I fucking hate computers!" he muttered as he entered the offices of Bernstien and Clarke Tab Inc.

Mr Bernstein entered Tom's crampt basement office, "Tom where are those Linkin Park tabs we need for Bass Player magazine?"
"I'm working on them, it's hard to make out what they are playing, with all that scratching and shouting"
"you were the best tab man in the business, what's happened to you Tom?"
"I dunno, it's like someone cut the guitar strings of my life. Since that day...the day she walked out on me, I've not touched my guitar since"

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:06 (twenty-three years ago)

jel, this is shaping up to be the best novel since "dawson's creek: pacey and the sheryl crow tablature"!

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

hey wow mitch and jel, those were the greatest greatest posts. I have just been at home listening to "you don't have to live like a refugee" and "there goes my gir-ir-irl" this morning.

So I like to think, yes. Dan found it very promising. ;-) I need to register and get ready.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 October 2002 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

six years pass...

Are you going to start the 2009 thread Ned? It looks like it's getting to be tradition that you do so...

The Boat, The Accident and Kayfabe Disasters of Mediocre Proportions

by Samuel Pooley

Chapter 1: Listening to Harry Nilsson, or the Twist

It is a basic instinct of human kind to treat a narrator as a God and really, I am flattered but I'm neither benevolent or omniscient. The reality is I am much more like a child's sparkler on November fifth, pretty and exciting in bursts, dangerous if allowed near the stupid and celebrating acts of idiocy or conspiracy rarely cared about now time has passed.

and so it begins. trying to get 5000 words done today even if i don't have a story.

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Monday, 1 November 2010 08:10 (fifteen years ago)

anyone else doing it?

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Monday, 1 November 2010 08:10 (fifteen years ago)

that guy's motherfucking ping pong table is STILL IN MY GARAGE!!!!!

sarahel, Monday, 1 November 2010 08:29 (fifteen years ago)

That sounds like a plot point I can use. :)

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Monday, 1 November 2010 08:32 (fifteen years ago)

each part is conceived as an element of the whole but the whole is conceived as one made of many intersecting, cantilevered parts, so that the relationship between the whole and its constitutive elements is mutually dependent in such a way that the energy that drives the movement of the plot seems to transcend the continuous symmetry of action within the physical system of motion that the book metaphorically describes and embodies.

blood is spilt, actions are reversed, a small fly lands on the quivering skin of a placid lake. each dream reveals itself distinctly in the illuminating glow of daylight.

etc.

plax (ico), Monday, 1 November 2010 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

Doing it. Not officially though. It's mostly word puke at the moment, but that's kinda how I work anyway.

Pinktits, Monday, 1 November 2010 16:54 (fifteen years ago)

Is there a 2010 thread?

Is anyone gonna start one?

Wheal Dream, Thursday, 4 November 2010 13:05 (fifteen years ago)

Are there usually separate threads per year? If so, go ahead and start one. If not, keep it here, I guess. I'm not actually signed up on the official site - tried to do it on the 1st but I think it crashed under the weight of traffic. Am off out now and probably not able to write much until after the weekend, so I shall see how I'm feeling about it then and see if I can still sign up.

emil.y, Thursday, 4 November 2010 13:10 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, there's been a separate thread each year by the looks of the archive. I suppose I'll start the 2010 once since no one else has.

Wheal Dream, Thursday, 4 November 2010 13:12 (fifteen years ago)

Bah. And so you shall be.
