My poor Spurs... why the hell did the front office decide to restructure the damn team, anyway? They should've just left well enough alone, damn it. Sure, some of them were going to retire, sure -- that should've just been the cue to pick up fresh, young talent, not completely fragment the whole team, damn it.
I'm very pessimistic about the Spurs this season, obv. :(
― Tenacious Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)
you're right to be dubious. he's not much of a team player, can't play defense, and hasn't been shooting very well for the past two years. and he'll probably be unhappy in toronto too.

plus rose is just as liable to outdo himself in a raps debut - that's what happens with trades sometimes

Isiah's lucky he's working for a team that doesn't care if it's payroll is 90 mil for the next two seasons. Marbury is only 26 as scary as that is... It'll be interesting to see if the team jels. I don't see them becoming anywhere near elite though, and they've basically given up on improving thru the draft. Better today, but the team could get REALLY bad REALLY quickly (kind of Isiah's M.O.).
Phoenix is 20 mil under the cap next year after getting out of that horrible Penny Hardaway contract and when McDyess, Googs, and Charlie Ward come off the books this summer. That makes them one of like 5 teams with cap room, meaning they can make a run at Kobe or whoever. PLUS they get two first round draft picks AND Marcej Lample and the rights to Milos Vujanic, probably the top Yuogslavian PG. Sucks to lose Marbury but they were going nowhere this year and can now quickly rebuild around Amare and Marion. Bad now, but could be in the thick of thing in the West in two to three years. A lot of IFs though.
