There's a diff in dying for your own beliefs....and dying for the US 'infidels' (ie. us). Plans like this made the US gov't what it is today: out of touch, out of date and a laughingstock.

Why is this such a bad idea? Iraq needs internal security and an indigenous force will be more effective than an American one. Handing over real power to Iraqis involves a risk but it seems preferable to an extended American occupation or the civil war that would come if we simply left.
