Blimey, I saw him on that Top 100 Sexy Moments on C4 on Saturday. He was easily the most charismatic person they interviewed. What a shame :(

We were discussing his eyebrows and trying to explain who he was to some japanese people while drinking radiohead's leftover beer on Sunday night.

Yes, I saw that C4 thing on Sunday as well, and thought BLIMEY what has happened to his eyebrows?

Citizen Kate (kate), Thursday, 4 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Shame. "Deep Red" was his finest two hours. Much better than "Blow Up".

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 4 December 2003 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, my goodness.

I am glad that I got in my Hemmings park re-enactment (and recorded too, by the ghost of Paul Bracewell) while he still lived.

"He was previously married to US actress Gayle Hunnicutt and Baroness Prudence de Casembroot.

"Baroness Prudence de Casembroot" is the best fake-noble name EVER. Excepting that she is apparently real.

Hunter (Hunter), Thursday, 4 December 2003 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Remember "Blow Up" still making me laugh with 60s kitsch, when I finally saw it 2 years ago. Shame.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 4 December 2003 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

1960s Hemmings vs. 2000s Hemmings = biggest visual disparity ever between a young movie star and his older look. It really is hard to tell that one actually was once the other.

Fucking hell, though, I LIKED David Hemmings. And I only saw him in like three movies. I guess this means he won't be in the upcoming film about the Kubrick impersonator.

You ain't kidding!

Today I watched this interview with him from the BBC, and I couldn't believe it was the same guy (really cool interview though, where he talks about meeting Antonioni).

Whoops! Guess they don't let you direct link to their multimedia. Choads. Anyway, it's in the middle of this page.

Holy Shit....

^ What the real-life Dr. Evil would look like.

Girolamo Savonarola, Friday, 5 December 2003 06:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hee hee. Looks like your uncle who drinks too much and has way too many funny stories to tell.

Kingfish Beestick (Kingfish), Friday, 5 December 2003 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

They should repaint the grass in Maryon Park for him.

I've often thought the singer with north London's best surrealist pop band has a touch of the young Hemmings about him.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 5 December 2003 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this 'guess the band' day or something?

Carter USM.

His only film as a director to be released in Spain was Bowie flick 'Just a Gigolo', fact fans. I read one of those dead people articles this morning.

Sweet Jesus, look at those eyebrows. They couldn't have been real, could they? He didn't look that demonic in "Blow Up"!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

calm down, alex.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

STOP TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN, DAMMIT!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, explode.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not that they're real or not - it's: why the hell did he decide to push half of them up to make them pointy?

Re. Blow Up, etc: there's a remarkable invention called tweezers.

Larry Hagman's let his brows go a similar way, although at least they're the same colour as the rest of his hair, i.e. white. Maybe DH liked the look. I mean, it is... er, memorable.

ChrissieH (chrissie1068), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

The fact that he produced The A-Team and Airwolf hasn't been discussed enough.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have to like use mustache wax to do that? Sadly I have to trim my eyebrows and I'm half that dude's age and... I'm scared.

Inicdentally, "Blow Up" is slated to be out on DVD in February....at fucking last. Sad that Hemmings won't be alive to see any renewed interest in the film (quite possibly my favorite movie of all time).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 5 December 2003 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

"Lookin' good with the eyebrows, boss."
