Google & "Miserable Failure"

Does it depress anyone that the greatest victory for Democratic activists in the last two decades is associating "George Bush" and "miserable failure" in Google searches?

This whole thing is unbelievably lame, and pretty much seals my view that Democrats are toast in 2004, no matter what.

BUT: remember when they threw sheep's blood on naval destroyers?

"greatest victory" my ass!

The last 2 decades? What about two terms of a Clinton presidency?

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by Democratic activist.

i would hardly call this prank "activism".

Emilymv (Emilymv), Sunday, 7 December 2003 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, an activist for the Democratic Party.

Clinton was a complete DLC-baby, corporate-sponsored to the bone.

(I'm being sarcastic about the 'biggest victory' - but the way some people have gotten excited about this is depressing. I occasionally fantasize about a world where the opposition party in the US hasn't been humbled to the point of bad playground humor.)

Ugh, trying too hard to sound angry.

Funny, Kerry never seemed so angry before it polled well, fucker.

Question I'd like to ask at a Democratic debate:

"Is it not true that during the eight years of the Clinton Presidency, more than a half-million Iraqis, mostly children, died from the US-backed and initiated UN sanctions? Where was the anger then, motherfuckers?"

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 7 December 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

that is depressing. but i would hardly say that the democratic party has been "humbled". the nation is pretty evenly split, as evidenced by the last election and many polls. the lack of a clear front runner for the '04 election is what you are going on, i take it?

miloauckerman-you could make that comparison to any administration. it is pointless to wonder why either party refuses to point the finger at itself. it would bring logic to the ridiculous partisan politics that we all know and love.

"Governor Dean?"

DEAN: We'll all keep our hands down on this one.

(LAUGHTER)

"John -- Senator Kerry? Yes or no?"

KERRY: No. But I am angry.

(APPLAUSE)

"Congressman Kucinich, yes or no?"

(APPLAUSE)

KUCINICH: No, but I think the murder of children ought to be decriminalized.

(APPLAUSE)

"Reverend Sharpton?"

SHARPTON: I grew up in the church. We didn't believe in that.

"OK. Senator Edwards?"

EDWARDS: Yes. But I would have voted against it had I any mind of my own.

(APPLAUSE)

"Senator Lieberman?"

(APPLAUSE)

LIEBERMAN: Well, you know, I have a reputation for giving unpopular answers in Democratic debates. I never blown up Iraquis, sorry.

"General Clark?"

CLARK: Never heard of it.

"Ambassador Braun?"

MOSELEY BRAUN: I'm not going to answer.

(LAUGHTER)

(APPLAUSE)

"And Governor Dean?"

DEAN: Yes. Yes, that did occur. But if you elect me, I will make sure that the media hears much less about it.

"Yes, all right."

(APPLAUSE)

Not at all - that's to be expected, as is the even division. I'm not saying the country is overwhelmingly GOP, anything but.

It's that the Democratic Party has been cowed since 1972 or so. They run to the right - er, the center - and ignore their base and just can't stand on their own.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 7 December 2003 03:10 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a google bomb, and I'm making my own (so when you search for madonna you get a nasty page).

Dante-Cubed (Sean3), Sunday, 7 December 2003 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Milo, this is a load of precious crap.

If Rep party HQ are anywhere near as full of how-dare-you hot air as you seem to be over this puerile but basically harmless little jape, that alone tells me maybe the Dems aren't quite toast after all.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Sunday, 7 December 2003 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha, you got me!

I'm just an upset Republican!
