Here is the thread where you post gift ideas to help out your fellow ILXers do their seasonal shopping.

The Mini Art Book: 500 pages, covering 500 different artists. Who doesn't like art? Just $10!

Director's Series, Vol. 3 - Michel Gondry DVD: crazy videos for Bjork, the White Stripes, Cibo Matto, etc. Who doesn't like crazy music videos? $15!!

For the indie-inclined: 25 Years of Rough Trade Shops boxed set: 4 discs, impeccably selected, less than $40!

Onion books and calendars. Swiss/Belgian chocolate. I try to avoid giving gift certificates, because they're just like cash except not as useful. So, your ideas?

i like to get gift certificates to bookstores and record stores. it keeps me from spending holiday gift money on things like groceries. but i still get to chose exactly what i want.

I like gift vouchers but not to shitey shops.

I'd forgotten the Gondry DVD when compiling my list last night so this thread has actually been useful already. I do wish Michel Gondry had made more videos for good records though.

we gotta move these refrigerators (CaptainLorax), Friday, 20 April 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

Take her to a carnival. Toss dimes at milk-glass dishes until you win one. Give it to her. If you fail to win a dish, stop tossing after the 199th dime. She'll be relieved. If you have any money left over after the dime toss, buy her some cotton candy. It is guaranteed to last until she decides to throw the uneaten residue into the garbage.

If you are really serious about impressing her, try the Test of Strength where you bang a big mallet on a board and shoot a weight up a wire toward a bell.

Buy her several yards of cotton calico and a dress pattern.
