Will we be watching Ireland play France in Croke Park?

I hope so. I reckon we will too, although there's always the stubborn 'ol GAA who are going to dig their heels in when it comes to soccer. Although talks are underway at the moment, so it looks good. I think it's a shame leaving a stadium like Croke Park (easily an equal of Wembley or the San Siro) idle eight months a year.

can't picture this happening. have a nasty feeling it will be watched by just 25,000 at landsdowne. the stubborn 'ol GAA aren't going to stop digging their heels in any time soon, IMO.

quoted comment on the news this morning, allegedly said by someone at the GAA meetup:

"We could soon be waking up to the England team playing in Croke Park, when eighty years ago English soldiers came to the Croke Park to kill Gaelic football players!"

the deal is to do a great bit of sleight of hand where the GAA will lease Croke Park to the government for who knows what purpose, and the Govt will then lease it to the FAI or IRFU.

about a year ago i heard that the guy who was about to become head of the gaa was pro football being played at croke park, but i never heard any more about this
i'd love if it did happen, although ticket prices would probably be outrageous...
