Self-pruning

Who cuts their own hair? If your hair's all the same length anyway and you just chop it to a shorter length, is it hideous?

If I were to chop my hair much shorter (but still all one length-ish), and do so without much precision or care, would it be something I'd regret?

it can be. the back is the hardest part to cut, depending on how short it is.

Surely this is the time to revive this?

oops.

I clearly should have titled this differently. D'oh.

I sort of feel like getting all my hair together at the back of my neck and cutting it all in one big chop. I'm not terribly concerned about how I look lately, so it might be interesting in a silly way if it ends up being disastrous-looking. And I could always get someone to even it out if it's unbearable, since I don't care much about length either.

Guys everywhere salute you.

Heh.

I cut mine own hair. It's why my fringe is never quite straight. But then I saw that woman with the chocolates on the telly, and her fringe was really wonky, so I think it's really fashionable to have a wonky fringe right now, I'm just ahead of the curve.

I, too, refer to it as "pruning my hair".

Women with chocolates on the telly are now the barometer of cool?

It's not Terry's, it's hers.

She has chocolate = she is cooler than me.

I once cut my own hair when I was about 18 or thereabouts. It went disastrously and completely freaked my then-bf out (which, actually, I now mark down as a good thing, since the guy desparately needed to be more freaked out).

I cut my own hair. I've gotten in the (good? bad? eh?) habit of letting it get all shaggy over the winter and then zzzzzzzzrrrrring it all off when the spring comes around. Once when I still had long hair I did the ponytail + snip snip technique, and I actually quite liked that 'do.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool. I was thinking of the ponytail + snip snip technique, I'm curious as to how it would turn out. I may just chop my hair and convince myself that it's very chic to be unkempt.

I have wavy hair that I blowdry straight. Self-pruning is a bad idea. Certain parts are wavier, thus everything comes out grossly uneven. But for a while when I was in high school, I made (*made* because she was sure she'd eff it up and I'll scream) my mom cut it. Not bad. Not chic, either.
