om sat i had an inadvisable take-out pizza: the nice people there gave me free SAUKERKRAUT w/o my asking - but i threw it away, cz i don't like sauerkraut

later that night i started having tummyache, which i have now had on and off ever since :(

on sun and mon nights, i got to sleep only to be woken by the pain an hour later: i got maybe three hrs sleep both nights

i dosed myself on antacid tabs and milk of magnesia on monday - this improved this during the day, but was no help at night

last night i started getting in a panic lying there alone in the dark: i felt like i had all this acid sloshing around inside me and if i turned it wd burn its way out of me, through my bed, through the floor, through my neighbour etc, like alien!!!!

the doctor doesn't think it's a gastric ulcer, he think's i've picked up a weird bug from something i ate - he's prescribed extra-stroing antacid pills the size of spaceships and i'm washing them down w.holland and barrett-type nonsense (DGL chewable liquorice etc)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Poor Mark S. I think you should see if you get better on your own before you start to drink cabbage juice - it's not that juicy.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

(What does Cabbage think of this thread?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

He's too busy elsewhere being 'juiced'.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

be thankful that only your tummy is broken.

My mind and body are just shattered and I can't wait for the xmas break.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if you need any additional medicine, but as someone who has suffered from non-ulcer related stomach pains for many years, I recommened drinking 2 cups of peppermint & chamomile tea a little time before you go to bed. Good luck!

marianna, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hello!, poor mark - it's a sacrifice, but hey, you're worth it ;o)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

is it common for pizza parlors in London to cook sauerkraut? This is the strangest thing I've ever heard.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

well i don't think they COOKED it, it wz cold

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

the sauerkraut is the only thing London pizza parlors DON'T boil

Is sauerkraut really food? Get the fuck out!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ah the 'bratwurst' pizza. an innovation, yes, but 'can' doesn't mean 'should'

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

krabt is grebt, however.

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I find mint tea makes my stomach acids shifty

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

What is sauerkraut? Hope you feel better Mark. How is yr writing going?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i am better today i think but not 100% still - still, i had a brilliant long dream abt being spike from buffy last night, and my still searingly painful tummy was in fact my vampire nature which i wz battling to conquer!!

jel my writing is going pretty well but it is hard to concentrate w.tummy and/or headache, plus my boiler is bust and i have to buy a new one :(

(one of the possible causes of the above = i take too much aspirin for headaches, the only thing that works)

(i posted the spike story on another thread, but this is a sensible place for it)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the Spike story? Because I was so confused by last night's ep!

Spontaneous Existence Failure (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

kate it is repeated on this thread! (= the dream abt being spike)

i posted it on the "enigmatic proclamations on cars" thread, bcz i wz too lazy to switch threads

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought there was another longer explanation or something. Sigh. Because I keep missing episodes, so I don't know what's going on.

Spontaneous Existence Failure (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

haha well my dream wd i think not help explain that episode! and i have to go out and buy a convector heater so nor will i!!

(i liked their "previously on buffy tvs things are now so complicated that confusion is inevitable" gag at the beginning, abt the chip, the trigger and the soul)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I was more mystified than Giles during that scene.

When did they take out the chip? Was that why Spike was going mad and all after getting his soul?

Spontaneous Existence Failure (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ans to first: the inititative came and took the chip out last week (it wz degrading and giving him headaches) (like my tummy chip earlier in the week)
ans to second: possibly, i don't think we're meant to be certain of anything yet

ie his madness might be/have been i. soul, ii. chip, iii. trigger, iv. other

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

And did he or did he not kill Principle Wood, or did Buffy turn up in time to prevent him? Or is Wood a vampire, too, now? That would be poetic justice!

Spontaneous Existence Failure (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

well since spike and buf both said if wood tried anything else, spike cd have him, i guess he is still alive

is he a vampire? we don't know yet!

(ps NO SPOILERS ANYONE WHO KNOWS THE ANSWERS!)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

And did he or did he not kill Principle Wood, or did Buffy turn up in time to prevent him?

Yes, he's still alive.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, spike decided not to kill him it seems. i am also rather fed up with the whole three times an effing week thing, HELLO BBC, there are some buffy fans who have lives thank you!!
