Never afraid of a fight, he has described taking on a nun at school. She "tried to whack me with a chair-leg once - I grabbed it and hit her and she never tried again".

I refuse to believe this man is a real person and not, in fact, an elaborate creation of a syndicate of EastEnders scriptwriters.

Of course he's also snotty and arrogant. Van Hoogstraten= From High Streets. heh.

You gotta love his minders though. You can always mark the calibre of a cold-hearted psycho by the standard of his minders. And Van the Man appears to have some of the best aviator-wearing, black trench coat clad, sinister strongarm artistes in the business.

Useless Fact of the Day. He went to school with Janet Street Porter. Much prefer him to that goofy tart.

Hmm, a lottle bit uncomfortable about someone prefering a ruthless slum landlord and murderer (come get me libel lawyers) who has made hundreds of people's lives a misery to a journalists whose main crime appears to be speaking a bit funny.

It's a tricky one, isn't it? I'm plumping for Robert Mugabe.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

At least he didn't do youth telly.

MikeyG (MikeyG), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Def II vs more than Two Deaths to his name....

NVH is a fine example of how far an astute business sense will get you, if you have the will to combine it with pitiless, inhuman brutality. It would be nice to think that he's actually a deeply unhappy man despite his wealth. I suspect this isn't true though.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope he was for at least a bit unhappy in the brief period he was banged up in conditions much superior to those in many of his houses.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

He's clearly a terrible human being but he was mentioned in a Carter song.

Can I just point out that by posting to this thread you are all giving your consent to being Googled, hunted down and killed? Hope you're all okay with that thanks bye.

Oh god, indie kid alert.

MikeyG (MikeyG), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

But Carter songs are all about bad things.
AIDS
Lousy care homes for the elderly
Alcoholism
Suicide
Racism in the army
Poverty

Erm..

Lenny Kravitz and Terrance Trent D'Arby (they really let themselves down there)
