WARNING! TALKING LIKE LOUIS ARMSTRONG FOR HOURS ON END IS HAZARDOUS TO BOTH THE FACE AND THROAT

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

it's never bothered me.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

elvis requires way too much concentration.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

gilbert godfrey

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I do a mean Gary Stringer from Reef, but only for two bars before I collapse.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

note: funny voices will get girls to like you.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

(it helps if they're already predisposed.)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

My wife LOVES it when I do Moe from The Simpsons.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I bet she hates it when you impersonate him though.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i have wrangled two seperate two year relationships out of a comedy italian and elvis/louis impressions, respectively.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

since they both ended horribly, you might want to take note that a solid relationship can not be built on funny voices alone.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Italians crack me up!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

oops x-post

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

eyyyy why you gotta makea trouble inna relationship?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha

Donald Duck voice isn't easy on the throat.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to do the kid from JJ72 as well, which always got a laugh. I don't know that I've ever based a relationship around funny voices though.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

woah. my ex told me that she really got interested in me after I started singing a fake Bond theme about the Tom Selleck film Lassiter in the video store in a Tom Jones voice. It never occurred to me this might be a common thing.

I do pretty good redneck voices. I think me and Mike Judge have similar capabilities.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

My lil' bro likes JJ72. I call the lead singer "The Lamb" just to piss him off.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I once slept with a girl who only went for Irish guys because she loved the accent. Keeping that accent up during sex was one of the most difficult things I have ever accomplished, I was spared having to deliver the breakup speech in a lilting brogue by waking up to discover her gone in the morning, which was ironic, or nice, or something.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Go to thread!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

doing the death metal voice is horrible after 2 hours.

Carey (Carey), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

reef? jj72? try getting some useful funny voices.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The death metal voice is soo funny!!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I listen to death metal and sit and laugh!!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Before Carey posted, I was going to say it's funny that I've never met a girl who does silly voices or impressions of any kind. Maybe I've just been meeting the wrong girls.

kirsten (kirsten), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

my ex did a freakish version of Penelope Cruz that made me want to throw furniture. It was disturbing.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 14 December 2003 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaaaa its the god awful truth that girls like guys who can do voices. I fell hard for a guy who did the muppet babies voice. its because we want to CHANGE YOU anyway so its good to know theres some flexibility in the vocal cords at least.

jeska, Sunday, 14 December 2003 01:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i need to start practicing my voices again

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

word.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 14 December 2003 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

LOOKA OUTA LADIES I'MA COMIN FOR YOUA

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 14 December 2003 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

now THAT's a spicy meataball

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 14 December 2003 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That's true, girls go crazy for guys who can do funny voices. I can say 'Misssterrr Aaaandersonnnn' in the voice of Hugo Weaving and my girfriend almost collapses with lust.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 14 December 2003 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't understand this.

kirsten (kirsten), Sunday, 14 December 2003 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

doing mr. bean is hard work

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 14 December 2003 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)

and Barney Gumble too

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 14 December 2003 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course, Lemmy Kilminster is hard to do as well. As is Bjork.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 14 December 2003 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yoda

oops (Oops), Sunday, 14 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

sheep noises are grebt, as are goats and horses - but they hurt after a while.

darren (darren), Sunday, 14 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey ladies I can do any voice in the world

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 14 December 2003 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

do me a passable Homer and i'm yours forever

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 14 December 2003 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

sgs saying "...that's a paddlin'" gets me all hot and bothered.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha what Southall said first. That and the woman from Black Box.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Doing Bjork is just Cartman gone away with the fairies. And if you can do Black Box (wo)man, you've got Heather Small.

I'm also partial to a good Marge, because I can make her sound like my mum.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The "death metal voice" is actually very close to HSA's IRL voice. (He has a deep voice to start with and any sort of illness or ruin makes him sound like the cookie monster!)

The only times I've ever hurt myself with comedy voices, well, one was insisting on singing like Robert Plant for an entire evening, and the other was when I talked in "Freeeeeehhhhhnd" voice (ask Suzy) for about two hours straight.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

its the god awful truth that girls like guys who can do voices

i am proof that this isn't particularly true - well i am likeable but not LIKEABLE

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, Stevem, they're too busy oogling your HAIR to notice your voice. ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Women go for guys who can do voices? Ah ha, a simple way to get lots of sex at last!

(cue me practising my voices)

Saying that, I can only do Mr T, which if you do in falsetto turns into Yoda.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Bill Cosby.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 15 December 2003 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

"Fool, no plane getting on I ain't"

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

(That was Bill Cosby, obv)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Once in middle school, I suddenly figured out how to do a Homer Simpson voice. It lasted about 2-3 hours, then I forgot how to do it. I have never attained that power again.

Currently, my most common silly voice is kind of a lounge singer/modern country singer voice, really deep, that I use to sing various songs, especially Christmas carols.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The John Major voice (Mr Bean, I guess?) fucks your throat up something horrible if you do it for too long. I've known people told to stop doing it for fear of losing their singing voices entirely. (!!!)

cis (cis), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks to gareth i am constantly lapsing into faux-Geordie, i really enjoy doing a Scouse accent to varying levels of success, Scottish and Irish also good, Indian is great as long as you can avoid sounding Welsh (and vice versa), love doing cartoonish Australian and American accents too - none of these are particularly painful tho

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

eight months pass...
Do you people like to put on silly voices when you are talking to those automated voice systems? I know I do.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

do you talk in silly voices in meetings?

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a stranger in a strange land=my voice is silly by default

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

When I do karaoke Neil Diamond, I almost end up spitting blood (which would be a pretty cool part of my karaoke act if it ever actually got to that point).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Brak and Zorak are pretty easy... for some reason, impersonating Carl is tough.

(Haha, I almost said, "For some reason, doing Carl hurts my throat.")

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

better for Gene Simmons, though.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG every weekend for the past like 3 months I've at one point or another completely raped my vocal chords yelling things in Lil Jon voice.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I do Lil Jon but I change some of the words because the Mrs doesn't always like it when I listen to "Bitches and Titties music" (her terminology).

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Plus it's fun to say "Motherhuffer" now and again.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

"Bitches and Titties Music"

OMG I FINALLY HAVE A TITLE FOR MY ALBUM THX ADAM('S WIFEY)!!!!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

death metal voice upthread otm

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i recorded a song trying to sound like louis armstrong once.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Trying to sing more recent Tom Waits songs is difficult.

I've mentioned it before but singing David Bowie songs in the style of David Bowie is the best way to pass the time if you're waiting for the RAC to turn up.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 19 August 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lee & Herring Kurious Oranj screaming voice i.e. speaking while inhaling REALLY hard is a killer and really hurts my throat. It's well creepy though, which is why it's fun to do.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 19 August 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Singing ODB songs in Geddy Lee voice tickles my throat and makes me need to cough. But it's worth it, just to hear "shimmy shimmy ya shimmy yay" all high pitched and squeaky.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Snarf from Thundercats.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)
