Real answer, I think: The song lyrics are actually a front for the pop-up ads. At some point, someone figured out that one of the most popular things search for online is song lyrics -- so they set up a site with lyrics culled from fan sites, configured the pop-ups, and watched the traffic roll in.

You can avoid a lot of the annoyingness if you just hit the "cached" link within your Google results.
