It was pointed out to me on my first day as an example of how cool and funny everyone is. Thereis also alot of Star Wars and Buckethead memorabilia everywhere.

David Brent to thread, obviously.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops, that should be "TIMETABLE", of course.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Tea break?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Tea break.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Doing a good job around here is like wetting yourself in a dark suit. It gives you a warm feeling, but nobody notices."

A bad photocopy of Charlie Brown sitting on a curb in said dark suit, with Snoopy by his side.

Ours are all union-related. The one directly in front of me says "* hours to work, 8 hours to rest, 8 hours for what we will"

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't you work in America?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I work in America. Otherwise, that would be one hell of a commute.

Anglophiles, I guess. This IS San Francisco,after all.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Buckethead memorabilia? Wow.

There's a big markerboard in our kitchen where people write down "inspirational" phrases. Every day I fight the temptation to write down Rage Against the Machine lyrics on it.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, there's this one guy here that I really think you shoulde meet.

Do you like Phish? The Coup? Jurassic Five?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The office secretary has dropped a Christmas cheer bomb on the office. The glitter from the tinsel is everywhere and it has a half-life greater than uraninium. Which means I will have glitter on my clothes and body until I die.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

more importantly, @d@m, does nick work in the adult entertainment industry and would he like to speak about myths relating to said industry?

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha

You know glitter gets in your bloodstream. A little contact with your flesh and you'll be sweating that shit for months at the least.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! I saw some of that movie the other day. It has a funny joke about Drew Barrymore and "Poison Ivy" in it.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"GROW. BIG. FAST." posters everywhere

kephm, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

this office is so big and so open plan I can't see any walls clearly from where I sit. I may have to go for a wander later and Report Back.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 18 December 2003 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

We've got a list of world faiths from Ba'hai to Zoroastrianism, listing all the holy days and holidays. Actually, it's incredibly interesting.

Cause I was always convinced that it was Jews that had the largest number of religious days of obligations (read: days off) when really, it's Christians. (Though they don't seem to separate out Catholic vs. Protestant.)

I suppose this is because I went to a predominantly Catholic school, where we got the Catholic holidays off anyway, while the Jewish kids had to make exceptions and take holidays during times of the year that didn't overlap, so it just seemed like they had more, because they were unfamiliar.

(I know someone is going to try to twist that into an "anti-Semetic" statement, but honestly...)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Thursday, 18 December 2003 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

We have nothing! Hurrah!

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 18 December 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a

-huge (I mean 6 ft tall/long) poster that lists reasons to write (to entertain, to inform, etc.)
-Several posters that describe the steps of the writing process.
-Several posters that name the parts of speech and list examples.
-A poster with proofreading symbols.
-A poster where I write the current week's classroom captains.
-A word wall where I write new vocabulary words on tag board.
-And then standard stuff like lunch menus, fire drill map, class rules etc.

oh i forgot the best! A promo poster for my brother's album!

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

We've got a lot of fucking paintings of sailboats.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

At my last job, the office walls had a few paintings by local artists, a poster listing all the distilleries in Scotland, and a poster listing the top-level domain codes for every country (.uk, .fr, .de and so on). Oh, and a couple of whiteboards and a no-smoking sign in German.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

lots of modern art prints
a few concert posters: mc5, tom ze, white stripes (with the von bondies opening haha)

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

We've got an insiprational headline that goes something like "We not only can succeed, we will succeed" that we cut out of a Sci3nt0l0gy newsletter.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Here is the picture on the wall of the library at my college:

I can't wait til the library moves next year and I can decorate it the way I want, that picture will be long gone.
