Andrew (enneff), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Four legs good!...

just kidding.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

But will the moderators look at that board?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, for urgent requests.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, yes.

Being a moderator will require you to check that board every few minutes while you're using the ILX.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OK.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Please can we all make a concerted effort to call it 'the ILX' from now on.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I just say Andrew that I for one have noticed how patient and not-losing-your-shit you've stayed this past week despite the astonishing amount of fuckwit behaviour by the usual suspects around here. That you've kept a cool head and just done what needs to be done is pretty damn impressive and I appreciate it man :)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm always amazed by Andrew's unflappability.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Welcome to "the ILX", bitch, where the hatas hate and the playas play...come feel the shells burn, etc. etc.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I did kinda lose my shit on that last SHOUT FOR THE MODERATOR thread. Sorry.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

That'll be the one I gave up on looking at.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew: you had every right to by that point. I would have lost it way more than you did.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew is somewhere between an unsung genius and the patently obvious good spirit of this place. Either way, the mang roolz, he does.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 December 2003 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Will there be a "Shout for the Moderator" link at the top of the page that will lead to asking a new question on that board?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 19 December 2003 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

NO!!! ARE YOU MAD??????

(heh, I'm sorry, I think I left my sarcasm on "stun")

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 19 December 2003 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Will there be a "Shout for the Moderator" link at the top of the page that will lead to asking a new question on that board?

Soon I will set it up so that next to each post there'll be a 'report' option, which will set up a post to the Moderator forum including the details of the post you require moderatorial assistance for.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 19 December 2003 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Now you'll notice a link at the bottom of each thread titled 'Moderation Request'.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 19 December 2003 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You rock Andrew :) I should buy you a drink.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 19 December 2003 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I second what trayce said (but yes I have seen the mod thread now).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 19 December 2003 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Um - it seems to me that while this is a very very good idea for moderation-heavy and feud-heavy ILE, it's less of an issue for a lot of the other boards (including ILM actually!) - and it ramps up the workload for their moderators, who will now have to endure all sorts of nonsense from ILE before getting to the relevant stuff.

I suppose what I'm asking is - can the 'Moderation Request' button be for ILE only?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah well done Andrew. The crap that was flying around last night (Oz time) was incredible. If somnething like that had happened on one of the boards I admin, I'd have thrown the rattle out of the pram 10 minutes in. You set me a good example if I ever need one in the role, and tried to sort something out while most of us were just mouthing off and grandstanding.

xpost with Tico: Dunno about other boards (except ILM) but as far as ILCricket and ILAFL are concerned, with the amount of traffic we get I should be able to resolve most issues in-board for the moment. (Be handy knowing it's there all the same.)

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 19 December 2003 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I love CRICKET!! ?

I am so not going there now...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 19 December 2003 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hold on a minute, when an I love football board was put forward, there was mass uproar - now there are all sorts of minority boards? No wonder the actual ILe is going to the dogs if other conversations are going off on all different bits - sheesh.

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I see there's an I love books! No wonder there's been no decent book conversations on here in so long. What a crock of Crap

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris, I set up ILC and a whole lot of people from a recently carked-it forum (none of whom knew diddly squat about ILX before) use it. One of them now uses ILX as well, and I promote ILX as often as I can without it becoming a pain.

So ILC has gained ILX one poster (so far) and cost it none. There has been no 'brain-drain'. So you might like to give some serious consideration to calming down.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

and I love books Fred? I am calm, just a little pi$$ed off is all

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

start a football forum chris

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

and watch the crap flying around after that? no chance

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

DO IT

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to be very anti new boards but I think they're inevitable now.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm with Alan. Start a football forum and I'll be in it with bells on.

(Only please call it EPL or Prem League or something.)

(I don't know about I Love Books. I didn't know about ILB at all until 10 mins ago when you drew my attention to it. I had a quick look at a couple of threads and I didn't recognise many of the names from ILE.)

xpost Chris: 10 minutes ago, I got the very first molecule of flak I have copped over ILC. I'll set up I Love EPL myself if nobody else wants to.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a time when splitting off discussion would have been a bad thing, when there were many fewer threads and the non-football interested could at least see that football threads were happening and might even pop in for an idle remark, but now this board is WAY too big to make that matter.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Alan is not only Jaunty, he is correct.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred don't set up I Love EPL or you will get a lot more flak than a molecule as I think less than half the potential posters even support a Premiership team!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not expressing this well am I? When the board was smaller (which is neither a good nor bad thing I should add) the mix of interests made ILE seem more like a general forum that you could conceivably dip into anywhere regardless - now I don't think I read more than 1 in 10 threads, so I miss the presence of football threads anyway. oh dear, that's not much better

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ILB only started two days ago I think

mark s (mark s), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Myself included Tico (West Ham United).

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

the last bit should be "so I don't notice whether the football threads are there"

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

EPL?! I'd be more likely to post to I Love ELP.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(Though I'm not against the idea of a football board in principle)

Tim (Tim), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

There's an underused feature of the "settings" which allows you to make arbitrary "bookmarks" at the bottom of new answers pages - if you add links to your fave new answers board then you can switch between boards quickly to see what's going on. With the faster server, the new answers comes up super quick, so that's OK, plus it mght be that this feature is better exploited - the code could be fiddled with to make it appear as a drop-down at the top (like the search bit in the top right).

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

As long as it's not just about English football, I'm OK with it, as it's just the usual suspects who contribute to football threads anyway, so I imagine taking it elsewhere wouldn't make that much of a difference to the ILX massive.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Apart from the fact that you'd have to check another board. And that there would be fewer people chancing upon individual threads that look interesting.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

ile is shit. the americans can have it.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh you little tinker!

Tim (Tim), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I knew you'd like that Tim.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like the Revolutionary War all over again - and once again, we kicked ass. WHOOO! USA! USA!

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark S stole my thunder. I had caustic jokes lined up and EVERYTHING. *pout*

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)
