OK, so we've done mince pies, who here likes Christmas pudding?

And does anyone still hide a coin inside?

I put silver charms in mine, not sixpences.

I'm not really all that keen on Christmas pud - it's too rich for me - but after Christmas I make a really good homemade vanilla ice-cream and crumble the left-over pud into it before I freeze the mixture. It's delicious!

mmmm....that does sound good.

I don't find the Christmas pud too rich. Interesting to hear abt the silver charms. I read somewhere that it's dangerous to put modern coins in Christmas pudding as they are not inert and so you might poison everyone.

I don't like it, but it is just about bearable with custard.

I am alone in my love for such stodgy fare. I may have to buy an Xmas pudding for one. Drench it in brandy. I don't love it enough to make it myself.

oh yeah, I like the setting it on fire bit. My dad put this brandy or some spirit from Belgium on it one year and the flames reached the ceiling, that was cool.

Nowt wrong with modern coins in pudding. I made mine yesterday, very late, I know but no time before hand, At least I steeped the fruit in brandy for a week. Yesterday was xmas baking day so the house was full of lovely baking smells . There's brandy and Guinness in the pud and a whole bottle of brandy was divided between the pud and cake.

Christmas pud is lovely, very rich definitely, but just a little slither with some brandy sauce or cream & you can't beat it!

Btw, Ed, your house sounds like the best place to be ever!

I'm not the world's biggest fan, but it's nice with Snow queen (have I posted the recipe for that before? - whipping cream, mixed with brandy, sugar and crushed meringue - then frozen - num num)

Sounds like heaven!

it's good, and melts nicely over the pud

Eaten immediately after Christmas dinner I find I don't enjoy it that much. I prefer it cold, later, with an alcoholic drink.

I like the pud hot, but not straight after dinner. You have to wait a little while to let the veg go down, so to speak!

Christmas Pudding is k-grebt. I am going to fry me some on Boxing Day this year, like the TV-Chef hivemind told me to.
