If you had your life to live over again, what would you do differently?

I have this recurring daydream where I live my life over with no follies and super-human foresight, and I usually imagine myself turning out really detestable.

I mean that: Daydream = I would have super-human foresight and I wouldn't have engaged in follies, unlike Real Life = human lack of foresight and love of follies.

I'd have bought an umbrella at least once in my life, I think I shoulda done that yeras ago.

don't bother. you'll just lose it. I've given up on hats, gloves, zippo lighters, sunglasses and umbrellas. they only cause regrets.

Alright. Then I change my answer. If I had one thing to do differently, I'd have finished school.

I'd probably ask out the girl I fancied in high school. I think i saw her in a record store a few months back, no one ever moves out of these suburbs. I'd probably change many things, but as they say, you can't go back. But, just recently I've been having dreams about my old school, people I knew, my old house. I wish I could dream about something else.

I also would not ever have promised anybody anything.

Nothing. I can't change it anyway, so why should I bother worrying over it?

I wish to god I had not worn a pair of hotpants and high heeled sandals out last night.

Go and see the Pixies last ever UK gig.

Never attend PE or games lessons at school. I didn't realise I could have just refused to do them until too late, punishment was ridiculously lax at ICHS.

Ha! I shoulda followed that rule myself, DG.

nothing

I would have taken up the piano. And I would have plucked up the courage to ask out the girl I fancied at secondary school (who I saw recently dragging a chain of children around Ilford high street - that's Caterham for you). And I would have stood up to my bullies.

Will McKenzie, Friday, 12 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nothing. Every mistake I've ever made has eventually led to something good.

I wish I'd learned to speak more languages and taken music lessons more seriously, but I don't think I have much natural aptitude for either. G-rated regrets, huh?
