One or two of us will be in Scotland at the New Year. I have heard that they call it... Hogmanay.

I wonder do they have "Jools' Hootenanny" in Scotland. And I wonder why I think I have misspelled that word.

On this thread people like for instance RJG can write fragmentary yet intriguing comments about the festive and New Year period, or epoch.

I wonder what will Cozen be doing during that epoch.

the pinefox, Sunday, 28 December 2003 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll be changing years.

cozen. (Cozen), Sunday, 28 December 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

jools holland relates to the nose.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 28 December 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the dreaded Jools will be on Beeb 2 Scotland. For most Scot's though, Chewin' the fat is the obligatory festive treat.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Sunday, 28 December 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen¡ (Cozen), Monday, 29 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer Hand is doing the Scotland New Year as well. He can teach everyone the Kahuka.

TOMBOT, Monday, 29 December 2003 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The P.F. is in Scotland till Friday. Or Saturday. But I think Saturday. Yes.

The better news. is. that Kirsten is. In Scotland, also.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

It was wrong. About the P.F. He is here till Friday. Yes / No?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

How I miss greeting people after the bells with "Did you see I.M. Jolly?" and pretending to like it.

I console myself by compiling a personal good-guy/wank list in my head as people enter the room.

Now if only we could stop Jonathon Watson doing Frances Franco Frank Frankie Boy "Where's The Burds?" Macca MacAvennie...

GerryNemo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

nice to see that PF doesn't only do impressions of other people.

he is here until friday, after all.

cozen, you should get in touch.

decide, carefully, with whom.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a dream last night about Variety Bar.

I don't know what I'm going to be doing or where I'm going to be tomorrow night. My best guess: dancing around at Cl4ire's house with the overhead light turned on. I'll be around for a couple of days though, maybe we can meet up Jan 1 or 2 for daytime bouze?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

This assumes you're all talking about Glasgow though. You guys could be in Machrihanish for all I know.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

do you like the variety, tracer?

cozen¡ (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember liking it. It felt like the grown-up version of Nice n Sleazy.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, that's abt right i think. the last few times i've drunk in there have been good, i got id'd!

cozen¡ (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a mobile phone.

my mobile phone has a number.

cozen¡ (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine doesn't.

Today is HOGMANAY.

In Sauciehall Street this morning I took pictures of - naturally - telephone boxes and HMV.

In HMV I read JtN's Talking Heads review from start to finish at last. All this way to do a thing like that.

The Scots are a warm-hearted people - it turns out to be true. For instance a) in a pub the oldsters ask us all where we are from, b) in HMV they let me read JtN's whole review without buying it.

the glasfox, Wednesday, 31 December 2003 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Scotland at new year = cold and dire. I'm still out tonight though at a VIP section of a big club somewhere in Dundee. Or so I'm told.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

the pf: in what book did you read the whole of JtN's Talking Heads review without buying it?

cozen¡ (Cozen), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I bet it wasn't in a book.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

affordable, then.

i'm in the process of phoning you, rjg.

cozen¡ (Cozen), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

are you using a telephone?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

if not, I suggest you try.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Cozen we are awaiting your arrival with breath carefully bated by Chris Roberts.

The Book was an 80s hairdresser's Book ie. a Magazine. It was called UNCUT and it had Keith Richards on the cover.

It would be funny if JtN was reading this, or were reading this.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect you can tell that this is. not. the. RJG.

No.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

This, is also, not RJG, but, could be, possibly, but, is not so much, maybe, but, it, is New Year's Eve, and, if you think, it might, be, RJG, it very well, may, be, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, we are a bit, drunk.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

was i there by then?

cozen¡ (Cozen), Thursday, 1 January 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

this is RJG.

no, you weren't.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 January 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I confuse myself.

Sometimes.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 3 January 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not surprised it's all that hair.

Is RJG in London soon, with Kirsten?

chris (chris), Saturday, 3 January 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Vast drollery of Daily Record reporting that fireworks had gone off over the seven hills during Erasure's standout performance. "Weather can't stop revellers" or something. As I write this in my South Side ensconcement people are still singing to celebrate Celtic's victory today. They've been at it for hours. Sorry I didn't get out to meet you all, did you have fun? My only misadventure was falling into a garden.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 3 January 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

My housemate claims the entire Edinburgh Hogmanay street party + fireworks schindig was called off due to poor weather? Is this true?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 3 January 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

later in the evening, i drunk flash liquid shower cleaner and burst a loaf of bread across the kitchen floor.

cozen¡ (Cozen), Saturday, 3 January 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Once upon a time I got drunk and attempted to slick my hair back using orange flavour jelly, I wouldn't worry about it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 4 January 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

And why did you not have pictures taken to celebrate this blessed event, Matt DC?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 January 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

that last RJG post was alfy cock, I think.

we can't be in london.

: (((((((

mandee and kelly and lara are coming here, next weekend, though.

who else should come?

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 4 January 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen¡ (Cozen), Sunday, 4 January 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)
