SAM-e: has anyone used it?

Someone mentioned St. John's Wort in Tom's depression thread, which reminded me of SAM-e, something I've always meant to checked out.

So, has anyone used it? Any experiences to relate?

I, myself, haven't, but I know at least one person who has and says it works very well for him. It's quite expensive, though.

SAM-e is found naturally in nuts... and salmon, I believe. Another reason a balanced meal every time is a good idea. I bought a 60 pill box of SAM-e once a long while ago, figuring I'd get enough to last a while to see if I noticed a difference. I think just remembering to make the effort to take the pill gets you feeling better about the day, since you're remembering to do something to benefit yourself. I wasn't really depressed when I used SAM-e, I was just being irritable at work. I was trying to be less snappy with people, because I really wasn't trying to be rude and I really wasn't mad at anyone, just stressed out under deadlines. Anyway, SAM-e didn't seem to make much difference in my life. Sometimes I felt kind of cracky or something. A little while later, I started making sure I ate right all the time and, after a lot of reading, found a diet that works very well for me.
